Zoning for the property is C-C (Central- <br />Commercial/Downtown Revitalization District. <br /> <br />Continued to November 10, 1999. <br /> <br />UP-99-53, Joseph Sasek <br />Application for a conditional use permit to operate a wine store, and to permit holding <br />seminars and classes in conjunction with wine sales and other ancillary uses located at 641 <br />Main Street. Zoning for the property is C-C (Central Commercial)/Downtown <br />Revitalization District. <br /> <br />Mr. Plucker referenced a staff report dated October 27, 1999 and highlighted key areas contained in the <br />report including background information, project description, and opposition from neighboring <br />residences. In conclusion, he noted that staff's recommendation is that the Commission make the <br />required use permit findings and approve application Up-99-53, subject to the conditions listed in <br />Exhibit "B". <br /> <br />Discussion ensued relating to the Alcohol and Beverage Control permit, why this business is being <br />labeled as a school, and signage or advertisements not being posted in the business windows. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED <br /> <br />Joe Sasek, 2974 Sorano Court, noted that the business is approximately 6,000 square feet in size with <br />approximately 4,000 cases of wine. He commented on the variety of wine the business will carry and <br />the business being an upscale wine shop. He noted the store will offer gift baskets, specialty foods on <br />site, a private wine cellar and wine lockers. He commented on the history and design of the building <br />and noted that the building facade will be a modern replica of the original building. He noted the <br />Downtown Association is supportive of the design. He provided and overview of the wine classes that <br />will be offered and the dimensions of the basement. He stated that the conditional use permit plan will <br />be submitted in 60 days of the approval of the conditional use permit.
