There was also support for a water feature that would connect the village common area and the aparmients. The Commission supported relocating the carport structure closest to Valley Avenue and increasil~g the landscaping in this area. It was noted that applicant is working to prepare visuals that would be available prior to the next meeting. Commissioner Arkin stated that he does not want one color for all of the units. The applicant noted that a color board would be provided for review. Commissioner Arkin asked if Green Building practices would be implemented for the apartments. No decision was reached by the Commission on this issue. Discussion ensued regarding the possibility of providing a day care facility on the location adjacent to the retail area. The issue of parking along the street between the Village Commons and the apartments was referred to staff for resolution. Commissioner Karneny questioned if there would he a focal point at the Bemal Avenue enmmce into the residential area on the Western Parcel. Mr. Costanzo advised that this would remain as a rural area. He noted that there will be a public art piece in the Village Commons area. Discussion ensued regarding landscaping and maintenance of the access of the Western Parcel from Bernal Avenue. Commissioner Maas stated that she would like to see the water aspect on the north enmmce e~panded. Commissioner Kameny stated that hc would like the water feature on the south to remain.
