Mr. Plucker noted that staff will examine that issue.
Commissioner Maas commented on the number of people who misplace their cars at Stoneridge
Mall and suggested that some type of emblem, reflective of the Valley such as grapes, be
installed in sections of the parking lot. She noted further that many of the emergency phones are
out of order.

Chairperson Roberts initiated discussion relating to having designated parking for zero-emission
vehicles in close proximity to stores. Commissioner Arkin suggested that this item be agendized
for discussion at a future meeting, with a recommendation made to the City Council.
Mr. Plucker noted that many of these issues would be addressed at the design review level. He
suggested that the Commission consider directing staff to incorporate standard conditions
relating to U.S. Green Building Council building standards, smoking locations, and designated
parking for zero-emission vehicles.

Commissioner Sullivan inquired whether the Commission is interested in having a presentation
by the U.S. Green Building Council or a similar organization on measures for energy-efficiency.
The Commission expressed its interest in having such a presentation as well as in having
quarterly workshops on various matters to educate the Commission.

r
,

PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES

February 9, 2000

Page 15
