BUILDERS, INCORPOBATED, <br />FOR A ZONING PERMIT R~GARDING CHOICE OF ROOF MATERIALS <br />IN VALLEY TRAILS SUBDIVIS!ON~ <br /> <br />The application of D. and V. Builders, Incorporated, for <br />a zoning permit was considered by the Planning Commission <br />at its meeting August 14, 1968; and <br /> <br />After having considered evidence both oral and documentar <br />the Planning Commission granted the applied for zoning <br />permit, subject, however, to the condition that only <br />shake roofs were to be used on the houses to be construc- <br />ted by applicant; and <br /> <br />D. and V. Builders appealed the above condition in a <br />timely manner to the City Council; and <br /> <br />The City Council at a duly noticed public hearing on <br />September 10th, 1968, did consider evidence both oral <br />and documentary; and <br /> <br />The City Council found that the op~o~a~::u~e of a~%~halt <br /> <br /> shingles for which D. and V. Builders contended was <br /> desirable in that said asphalt.shingleS were of lower <br /> cost and would result in a saving to the home buyer, were <br /> at least as safe, if not safer, from the fire hazard <br /> point of view than shakes; were of considerably greater <br /> durability than had been previously available asphalt <br /> shingl~; could be varied in terms of color in order to <br /> afford sQmewhat greater diversity within the proposed <br /> development, and were considerably more aesthetically <br /> pleasing than had been previously available asphalt <br /> shingles. <br /> <br /> <br />
