APPENDIX E <br /> <br />PROGRAM GUIDELINES FOR ISSUANCE OF <br />INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY EQUIPMENT <br /> <br />The City of Pleasanton recognizes that department heads and middle managers are involved <br />with projects that may create the need for work to be completed off-site and outside of normal <br />working hours. To address this situation, the City may provide the information technology <br />equipment needed to complete those projects. The technology will generally be provided <br />through the use of notebook computers that are assigned to individual departments and/or <br />through the assignment of information technology equipment that may be located in an <br />individual's home. The uses of this equipment shall be consistent with this Program. <br /> <br />Notebook ComDuters <br /> <br />As part of the City's information technology equipment inventory, notebook computers are <br />assigned to individual departments. The number of notebooks available shall be determined <br />as part of the annual budget review as approved by the City Manager. Departments are <br />responsible for developing a sign-out procedure that assures the equipment is propedy <br />accounted for. Employees shall not install any application software or hardware in notebooks <br />without prior approval of the Information Services Manager. To assure proper operation of <br />the equipment, any maintenance/performance issues should be brought to the attention of <br />the Information Services division as promptly as possible. <br /> <br />In addition to notebooks ass ned to individual departments, upon recommendation of a City <br />department head, the City Manager may approve the purchase of notebook computers to be <br />assigned to individual ernployees. Use of these machines still be consistent with the <br />guidelines for Stationary Information Technology Equipment listed below. <br /> <br />Stationary Information Technoloov EauiDment <br /> <br />City-provided information technology equipment for installation in an employee's home may <br />include personal computers, printers, FAX machines, computer software and Internet access <br />through the City's existing Internet equipment. The program does not include hardware <br />upgrades to information technology equipment owned by department heads and/or middle <br />managers.
