3.0

Project No. 5541
1 June 1993

Plan for Prevention. Mitigation. Abatement. or Control

The appointee of the GHAD Board of Directors shall perform periodic deftring and
clean-up of drainage swales, deflection barriers, and other GHAD improvements, as
well as periodic visual observation of the site in an effort to uncover and monitor any
new potential geologic b.',nrds if any such hazard or potential b~Tnrd is observed, it is
recommended that the GHAD would then retain a geologic or gentechnical engineering
consultant to further evaluate the potential hazard.

If the consultant identifies a potential geologic hn',nrd that warrants investigation, a
detailed recommendation in this regard shall be submitted by the consultant to the
General Manager of the CHAD for approval and authorization. Means of investigation
could include:

Review of geologic maps, consultant's reports and literature, and aerial
photograph
Field reconnaissance and mapping
Appropriate exploratory excavations and laboratory tests
Installation of appropriate monitoring device (piezometers, inclinometers, strain
gages, tilt meters, surveying monuments for example)
Analysis and calculations

Once the potential geologic baTard has been adequately investigated, monitored and
evaluated, the consultant would then provide a plan of action for the mitigation of the
ganlogio baTard. These mitigation measures could include:

Excavation and rceompaction of shallow slope failures
Installation of additional subdrain systems
Repair of surface drainage improvements
Construction of additional surface drainage improvements
Restoration of eredcd areas and/or removal of siltation deposits

All recommended mitigation measures (and all other operations of CHAD) are subject
to the prior approval and authorization of the CHAD General Manager, and are further
subject to budgetary, revenue and legal conslraint$ of the district. The gcoteclmical
consultant also would provide field observation services during the constnactlon or other
implementation of approved geologic mitigation measures.

5
