Festival complem with Scarecrow Contest, Santa and Mrs. Claus at ~e markeL and an appearance by the Easm- Bunny <br />this past April. <br /> Last October PDA hosted an Antique Falre on Main Stizet. PDA works on the twice-yeariy event with Fram <br />and Associates of B~sbane. Also in October Downtown jt~ned with the City Employees ~,suciation and Reefcanon <br />De~anmenl to co-host the fifth mmual "Cat Walk" for trick-or-treaters. This yearns sixth Cat Walk is set for Satotday. <br /> <br /> Downtown holiday a~dvity included co-sponsorship of file annual Cl~snnas Tree Lighting. which was <br />preceded in 1993 by the f'wst ever night Cfaistmas Pnnd~. Other holiday events were Santa at the MatkeL f/ee photos <br />with Santa. musical entertainment* a Holiday Open House, and Downtown's tmthtional carnage rides. As a community <br />service project, Girl Scouts a~sisted at the ride. <br /> From Thanksgiving weekend through the New Year's holiday, 75 lighted pole decorations wae in place along <br />Main Street, making the sixeel a "destthatin~ ~ea" fo~ visitors. Funding f~ the decorations is po~qded by the City of <br />Pleasanton and tbe Association (see budget). <br /> PDA ~livities since J sly. 1993. have included ~.~istance t~ doRalions of prizes to the Cancer S~clety Daffodil <br />Days. Fifteen Downtown businesses and the PDA will distribute "Coodies" during the series. <br /> Downtown h~s forgone its 22nd ann ual Heritage Days in favor ofjoiaing with the citywide Centamisl B irlhday. <br />PDA, through a Centennial sub-committee. has plans for many events, including a Restaurant Walk. costume and <br />window decorating conta3ts, and a Centennial Photography Co~teat with a July 23-30 exhibition. <br /> PDAisa~s~donatingthebsgsf~ral~e~teantsintheJune~2A~~y~Ran~Theeventwti~bec~meaHcritageDays <br />activity beginning in 1995. <br /> On May 22 and again on Octobe~ 16, PDA will h~t Antique Faires on Main St/eeL The fall fah~ ix projected <br />to be the larger of the two, PDA panacipates in the Design-an-Ad Contest in the Valley Times and co-sponsors with the <br />Tri-Valley Herald the annual Heritage Family Reeeptitm and Heritage Award. <br /> <br />BUDGET: <br /> <br /> Attached is a copy of the proposed assessment fee 1994-95 budget as set by the curr~nt Advisory <br />Committee. The budget assumes a beginning fund balance of about $7,000. <br /> The law which governs the B us iness Improvement District requires the assessment distriet to report <br />a fiscal bridget. Since the City now collects on a calendar basis, the annual levy is being split in half for <br />budgetary reporting purposes, <br /> S e t aside in the PDA ban k acconn t are beautifination funds that have come from various fu ndratsing <br />activities such as Santa photos. Funds total $1.077.49. Current priorities for this money are new lights for <br />the City's Christmas tree in front of the Valley Museum (Two additional strings were added in 1993) and <br />a seasonal light pole banner program. <br /> Additional beautification projects. as well as PDA supported activities. will be budgeted as needs <br />arise and funding is obtained. <br /> <br />MEMBERSHIPS: <br /> <br /> The Pleasanton Downtown Association holds active membership in the California Downtown <br />Association and the Pleasanton Chatober of Commerce. It was just voted by the Board of Directors/ <br />Marketing Committee to join Ihe Pleasanton Conventioa .and Visitors Bureau. Many PDA members also <br />serve on Chamber and CVB committees, their Boards of Directors, and on City commissions. <br /> <br /> (2) <br /> <br /> <br />
