WHEREAS, <br /> <br />B~IEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />I~IEREAS, <br /> <br />~L~FHEREAS , <br /> <br />~EREAS, as a result of said publications, the City received two <br /> letters, one signed by 11 residents and one signed by <br /> one resident, requesting a public hearing; and <br /> <br />~EREAS, members of the City Council and City staff on May 1, 1975, <br /> held a meeting with residents in the area in which the <br /> Stoneridge overcrossing will be located, including within <br /> said group the residents who had signed the letters re- <br /> questing a public hearing, in order to provide informa- <br /> tion with respect to said overcrossing; and <br /> said meeting was attended by approximately 50 residents <br /> of the City at which time all questions regarding the <br /> overcrossing and the environmental assessment of the same <br /> were discussed and answered; and <br /> subsequent to said meeting of May 1, ten of the twelve <br /> signators to the letter requesting a public hearing <br /> signed notices of withdrawal of their requests for said <br /> hearing. <br /> the City Council of the City of Pleasanton is of the <br /> opinion that said overcrossing is in the best interest of <br /> serving the needs of the 32,000 residents of the City of <br /> Pleasanton, although it is recognized that some disagree- <br /> ment as to the necessity of an overcrossing in that site <br /> or any other site may exist among a small minority of <br /> residents within the City; and <br /> pursuant to guidelines established under the National <br /> Environmental Policy Act, it is necessary for the City <br /> Council to determine whether an additional notice of <br /> public hearing on the aforementioned negative declaration <br /> should be published; and <br /> it is the opinion of the City Council, based upon the <br /> time and effort which has been undertaken by members of <br /> the City Council and staff to explain as fully as possi- <br /> <br /> ble to interested residents of the City of Pleasanton the <br /> -2- <br /> <br /> <br />
