WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br /> CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 75-110 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING STAFF TO AMEND <br />PROVISIONS OF THE CITY CODE WITH RESPECT <br />TO PLACEMENT OF MAILBOXES. <br /> <br />City Council of the City of Pleasanton on May 9, 1966, <br />adopted Ordinance 453, Regulating the Placement of <br />Mailboxes within the City of Pleasanton; and <br />this Ordinance was designed to prohibit the location <br />of mailboxes which would constitute an obstruction <br />to use of the public right-of-way and sidewalk; and <br />the United States Postal Service in approximately <br />March of 1975 revised its regulations relating to the <br />delivery of mail, so as to require curbside mailboxes <br />at new residences as opposed to mailboxes located <br />near the front door of residences; and <br />the City of Pleasanton has been attempting since <br /> <br />July 22, 1974, to have said regulation modified to <br />have door-to-door delivery in order to insure com- <br />pliance with the City's Ordinance, as well as to <br />serve the needs of new residents of the City of <br />Pleasanton; and <br />the City Council at a special meeting held on May 19, <br />1975, received a presentation from Mr. Frank Rogers <br />of the Oakland Section of the United States Postal <br />Service relating to the rationale for the implemen- <br />tation of the aforementioned regulation; and <br />at this meeting and prior thereto, the City Council <br />had received complaints from residents in new resi- <br />dential tracts who were not receiving postal service <br /> <br /> <br />
