/ / . ,, < "_' < FROM: SUBJECT: MEMORANDUM June 4, Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council Assistant to the City Manager - Walker Adjustment in Sewer Service Rate Schedule 1975 Introduction Effective July 1, 1975, Valley Community Services District Sewer Service Rates will be increased approximately 27 percent for resi- dential users and 53 percent for Commercial and Industrial users. Valley Community Services District now provides about forty-five percent of the City of Pleasanton sewer service. The 1967 agreement between the City and Valley Community Services District requires the City to pay for sewer service based on the service charges of V.C.S.D. The V.C.S.D. service rate increase will cost the City an additional $98,000.00 in 1975-76. The City Sewer and Drainage Fund does not have a projected balance, there- fore, consideration must be given to a sewer service charge increase. V.C.S.D. Sewer Service Charge Increase Valley Community Services District provides sewer service to 4~242 of the 9,716 residential dwelling units in pleasanton. The chart below shows the breakdown according to the recent special census: Served by Served by City V.C.S.D. Total. The City collects the sewer service charge and reimburses for the service provided according to the 1967 agreement between the City and V.C.S.D. That agreement requires the City to pay to V.C.S.D. 87.5 percent of the District's fees to provide sewer service, unless the City's fees are higher, in which ease, 87.5 percent of the City's fees must be paid.
