~E~AS, <br /> <br />I~HEREAS, <br /> <br />~E~AS, <br /> <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 75-211 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING THE FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT <br /> ON THE PLEASANTON WATER QUALITY CONTROL PROGRAM RELATING TO <br /> ALTERNATIVE 5-b AND DIRECTING THE FILING OF A NOTICE OF <br /> DETERMINATION REGARDING SAID PROJECT <br /> <br /> the City of Pleasanton presently operates a sewage treat- <br /> ment facility known as the Sunol Plan which was initially <br /> constructed in 1911 and modified over the years; and <br /> it has been the position of the Regional Water Quality <br /> Control Board that the aforementioned Sunol Plant, due to <br /> its age and operating problems experienced as a result <br /> of its age, should be consolidated with a modern facility <br /> presently serving one-half of the citizens of the City <br /> of Pleasanton operated by the Valley Community Services <br /> District; and <br /> the City of Pleasanton and Valley Community Services <br /> District in June, 1967 and again in November of 1972 <br /> entered into agreements with respect to the consolidation <br /> of their respective plants; and <br /> the State Water Resources Control Board has required the <br /> City to consider a variety of alternative means of dis- <br /> posing of sewage for the City of Pleasanton in order to <br /> accomplish the expansion of the Valley Community Services <br /> District Plant pursuant to State and Federal grant fund- <br /> ing programs; and <br /> <br />WHEP~AS, a study was made by Kennedy Engineers of San Francisco <br /> <br /> on behalf of the City of Pleasanton; and <br /> <br />~HEREAS, after reviewing all viable alternatives available to the <br /> City, Kennedy Engineers indicated that the two alterna- <br /> tives which were most viable were projects 2-b (construc- <br /> tion of an interceptor sewer line to take sewage from <br /> the existing sewage treatment plant to V.C.S.D.'s plant), <br /> and 5-b (the construction o~f a new waste water treatment <br /> plant to replace tbe existing Sunol Treatment Plant);and <br /> <br /> <br />
