Safety consisting of Police Division and Fire Division, <br /> said department to be under the control of the Director <br /> of Public Safety. <br /> <br /> Section 2. Approves the permanent appointment of Walter McCloud <br /> <br /> as Director of Public Safety. <br /> <br /> Section 3. Approves the proposal of the City Manager that the fol- <br /> lowing items be considered and studied in the permanent <br /> establishment of the Department of Public Safety: <br /> a. Consider the final internal organizational structure <br /> <br /> of the Public Safety Department. <br /> <br /> b. Establish a more specific clarification of the manage- <br /> ment positions within the Public Safety Department to <br /> include areas of responsibility, authority and com-- <br /> pensation. <br /> <br /> c. Clarify and revise rules and regulations governing <br /> the daily operational procedures of the Public Safety <br /> Department's Police and Fire Division. <br /> <br /> d. Study additional programs that might be implemented <br /> <br /> to further improve the quality and quantity of public <br /> safety services provided to the community by the <br /> Department of Public Safety. <br /> <br />Section 4. Directs the City Manager to provide periodic reports tc <br /> the City Council regarding progress related to the afore- <br /> mentioned studies. <br /> <br />Section 5o Authorizes the City Manager to appoint on an acting <br /> basis as Chief of their respective divisions the Police <br /> Captain and the Administrative Fire Captain since these indi- <br /> viduals are qualified by previous training and experience <br /> as set forth in Government Code §§38630 and 38611. <br /> <br /> 6. Directs the City Attorney to review the Ordinance Code <br /> of the City of Pleasanton and determine what ordinance <br /> changes, if any, are necessary in order to assist the <br /> City Manager and City Council in the implementation of <br /> <br />Section <br /> <br />Section 7. <br /> <br />the proposal set forth in this <br /> <br /> This resolution shall become <br /> <br /> -5- <br /> <br />resolution. <br /> <br />effective immediately upon <br /> <br /> <br />
