WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br /> CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 76-200 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION FIXING THE TAX RATE FOR THE CITY <br />OF PLEASANTON DURING THE FISCAL YEAR 1976-77 <br />AND DESIGNATING THE USE OF FIVE CENTS FOR THE <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY <br /> <br />the City of Pleasanton, a general law city, must es- <br />tablish its 1976-77 fiscal year tax rate and notify <br />the County Assessor of said tax rate before September 1, <br />1976; and <br /> <br />SB-90 (Chapter 1406, Legislative Stats, 1972) limits <br />the ability of the City Council to raise the tax rate <br />in the City of Pleasanton beyond that established for <br />fiscal year 1972-73, except for certain reasons; and <br />it would be possible for the City Council, pursuant <br />to Assembly Bill No. 2008 to accumulate allowable tax <br />increases not taken in a previous year in which cir- <br />cumstances allowing the increase under SB-90 occurred; <br />and <br />during fiscal year 1975-76, an eight cent increase on <br />the tax could have been imposed; and <br />during fiscal year 1976-77 the maximum general pur- <br />pose tax rate which can be imposed is $1.85; and <br />the City Council wishes to increase the general pur- <br />pose tax rate by five cents; and <br />a surplus from the 1975-76 fiscal year budget of $41,478, <br />together with an additional $52,000 from the final as- <br />sessed valuation of the City are available for use; and <br />the City Council is desirous of using said $93,478 in <br />the Department of Public Safety to allow the employment <br />of additional personnel. <br /> <br />NOW, <br /> <br />RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1.
