WHEREAS, the City Council received a report of August 18, 1976,
from the Assistant City Manager, setting forth the
reasons why the City Council should not buy additional
capacity other than that which is grant fundable in the
Sunol-VCSD interceptor line.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Determines that the City of Pleasanton will not pur-
chase any capacity in the Sunol-VCSD interceptor line
in addition to the 1.90 million gallons per day average,
which the State of California has determined to be grant
fundable capacity for said interceptor for the follow-
ing reasons:

1. There is very little industrial land in the Sunol
area to be accommodated by additional capacity.

2. Any additional capacity would be purchased by the
City on a pro-rata basis rather than on an incre-
mental cost basis with a resulting increase in cost
to the City.

3. Based on current data, there does not appear to be
a need for any capacity in addition to that which
is grant fundable.

4. Based upon current data, it appears unlikely that
any additional capacity would be available at the
VCSD plant during the next twenty (20) year period
to accommodate any additional capacity which the
City might purchase in the Sunol-VCSD line at this
time.

5. Based upon present data, it does not appear that
the west Pleasanton sewer line will be at full
capacity during, or even beyond, the twenty-year
growth period contemplated by the Sunol-VCSD inter-
ceptor line and, thus, would remain available for

-2-
