MEMORANDUM

July 6, 1977

TO: City Manager

FROM:

Director of Engineering Services

SUBJECT:

Application to Remove Five Heritage Trees at
418 Rose Avenue.

At their meeting of May 23, 1977, the City Council requested the
staff to review the Heritage Tree Ordinance and investigate possible
changes that could streamline the administration of this ordinance.
This review has not yet been completed and the current ordinance
does not allow for a staff decision on this application for removal
and consequently it is presented for City Council review and
consideration.

This request for authorization to remove five Heritage Trees has been
received from Mr. J. Jack Bras on behalf of his client to permit the
construction of a seven-unit apartment complex at the southwest corner
of Rose Avenue at Augustine Street, 418 Rose Avenue. The site has
been reviewed as well as the proposed site plan and staff feels that
removal of these trees is proper and necessary for reasonable economic
enjoyment of this property.

It would be my recommendation that City Council approve the removal
of the following five Heritage Trees at 418 Rose Avenue:

One 15" diameter English Walnut.
Two 16" diameter English Walnut.
One 12" diameter English Walnut.
One 10" diameter Black Walnut - 35

ft. tall.
