MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />August 2, 1977 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />MAYOR PHILCOX <br />VICE MAYOR MERCER <br />COUNCILMEMBER LeCLAIRE <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBERS BRAi~DES A/~D HERLIHY <br /> <br />City Council Building Committee Recommendations for <br />Capital Expenditures 1977-78 <br /> <br />Please refer to letter from City Manager of 7/20/77, copy attached. <br /> <br />The following report is based upon a meeting held on 7/22/77. Present at this <br />meeting were Councilmembers Brandes and Herlihy, Clay Brown, Alan Campbell, <br />and Jim Walker. <br /> <br />C~n~nittee recommendations are as follows: <br /> <br />Project A - Purchase of Fire State No. 2 <br /> 1. Continu~ ~olease rather than purchase. <br /> <br />Project <br /> 1. <br /> <br />B - Construct New Police Building <br />Committee recommends that the City Council make a commitment to <br />the construction of a new building to be located on the Civic <br />Center complex. The exact location and size to be determined <br />during this year. <br /> <br />2. The sum of $40,000. be allocated from the 1977-78 Budget towards <br /> engineering and architectural plans. <br /> <br />Funding of project would be through the Non-Profit Corporation <br />with financial arrangements being made in conjunction with plan <br />development. <br /> <br />That the existing building be preserved due to its historical <br />significance. It was estimated that this building would require <br />extensive and expensive remodeling to be used as City Council <br />Chambers or City offices. This building could be used for future <br />community needs or possibly sold to private interests. <br /> <br />5. Anticipated annual costs upon completion $4].,000. <br /> <br /> <br />
