CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 77-230 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL ADOPTING A SCENIC <br />CORRIDOR PROTECTION PROGRAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City of Pleasanton has adopted a General Plan including <br />a Scenic Highways Element pursuant to Section 65303 of the <br />State Government Code; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Interstate Freeways 1-580 and 1-680 have been designated as <br />potential state scenic routes on the Master Plan of State <br />Highways Eligible for Official Scenic Highway Designation, <br />a Scenic Highways Report has been issued by the State De- <br />partment of Transportation delineating the 1-680 corridor, <br />and the State Scenic Highways Advisory Board has determined <br />that the segment of 1-680 between Mission Boulevard and <br />Bernal Avenue is deserving of State designation as an of- <br />ficial Scenic Highway; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />said recommended Scenic Highway segment of 1-680 traverses <br />a portion of the City of Pleasanton, and constitutes a pri- <br />mary arterial of the community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the designation of at least a portion of 1-580 through the <br />City of Pleasanton is highly probable at sometime in the <br />near future. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RE- <br />SOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section <br /> <br />1. That the City of Pleasanton adopts a Scenic Corridor Pro- <br /> tection Program for the purpose of protecting and enhancing <br /> the designated scenic corridors surrounding 1-580 and 1-680 <br /> where they traverse the City and consisting of the following <br /> elements: <br /> <br />Design Controls <br />Application of the Design Review procedures contained <br />in Title II of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleas- <br />anton to any new construction or alteration of structures <br />within the scenic highway extending 1000' from each of the <br />right-of-way lines of both 1-580 and 1-680, within the <br />City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />Design Standards: All structures within said corri- <br />dors are to meet the highest standards of design ap- <br />propriate to the corridors as determined by the <br />Design Review Board. Structures are not to destract <br />from significant views and are to be compatible with <br />the character of the corridors. <br /> <br />Signs: No private off-premise signs of any type <br />are to be permitted in the corridors. On-premise <br />signs are to meet standards of design and appro- <br />priateness. <br /> <br /> <br />
