CITY OF PLEASANTON COUNTY OF ALAMEDA STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 77-230 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL ADOPTING A SCENIC CORRIDOR PROTECTION PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has adopted a General Plan including a Scenic Highways Element pursuant to Section 65303 of the State Government Code; and WHEREAS, Interstate Freeways 1-580 and 1-680 have been designated as potential state scenic routes on the Master Plan of State Highways Eligible for Official Scenic Highway Designation, a Scenic Highways Report has been issued by the State De- partment of Transportation delineating the 1-680 corridor, and the State Scenic Highways Advisory Board has determined that the segment of 1-680 between Mission Boulevard and Bernal Avenue is deserving of State designation as an of- ficial Scenic Highway; and WHEREAS, said recommended Scenic Highway segment of 1-680 traverses a portion of the City of Pleasanton, and constitutes a pri- mary arterial of the community; and WHEREAS, the designation of at least a portion of 1-580 through the City of Pleasanton is highly probable at sometime in the near future. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RE- SOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the City of Pleasanton adopts a Scenic Corridor Pro- tection Program for the purpose of protecting and enhancing the designated scenic corridors surrounding 1-580 and 1-680 where they traverse the City and consisting of the following elements: Design Controls Application of the Design Review procedures contained in Title II of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleas- anton to any new construction or alteration of structures within the scenic highway extending 1000' from each of the right-of-way lines of both 1-580 and 1-680, within the City of Pleasanton. Design Standards: All structures within said corri- dors are to meet the highest standards of design ap- propriate to the corridors as determined by the Design Review Board. Structures are not to destract from significant views and are to be compatible with the character of the corridors. Signs: No private off-premise signs of any type are to be permitted in the corridors. On-premise signs are to meet standards of design and appro- priateness.
