Section 17. Credit Union <br /> <br /> The City shall implement a voluntary payroll deduction <br /> option for those employees who wish to join the City and <br /> County Employees Credit Union for the purposes of <br /> transacting business with such City and County Employees <br /> Credit Union. <br /> <br />S~ction 18. Educational Incentive Pay Program <br /> <br />18.1 <br /> <br />18.2 <br /> <br />18.3 <br /> <br />The purpose of this plan is to reward those eligible <br />employees having obtained a specific level of educational <br />achievement and, in so doing, have become better qualified <br />to discharge the duties of their respective positions. <br /> <br />Eligible Applicants <br /> <br />Persons eligible to enroll in the Educational Incentive <br />Plan shall have met all of the following requirements: <br /> <br />A. Are permanent (non-probationary) employees with the <br /> City of Pleasanton. (Employees on probationary <br /> status as a result of promotions shall be deemed <br /> eligible under this plan). <br /> <br />B. Have met all requirements of their position as set <br /> forth in the City's Classification Plan in effect <br /> at the time the employee was hired. <br /> <br /> C. All new employees hired by the City after the date <br /> of adoption by the City Council of this Educational <br /> Incentive Plan shall be eligible for educational <br /> incentive pay for eligible degrees or college <br /> credits earned prior to their date of employment <br /> at the time they reach the top step of their classi- <br /> fication's salary range. <br /> <br /> Educational Standards Committee <br /> <br /> An Educational Standards Committee comprised of the <br /> President of I.A.F.F. Local 1974, and Assistant to the <br /> City Manager, shall be established for the purposes of: <br /> <br /> A. Determining the eligibility Of each employee to <br /> enroll in the Educational Incentive Program. <br /> <br /> B. Determining successful completion Of the educational <br /> level for which educational incentive pay is to be <br /> received. <br /> <br />18.4 <br /> <br />Enrollment Procedures <br /> <br />Employees wishing to enroll in the Educational Incentive <br />Plan must do the following: <br /> <br />A. Not later than forty-five (45) days prior to enrolling <br /> in a junior college, college or university, make <br /> written application to the Education Standards <br /> Committee in order that the Committee may determine <br /> the employee's eligibility to enroll in the Educational <br /> Incentive Plan. The Educational Standards Committee <br /> shall inform the employee in writing of their <br /> determination not later than thirty (30) days following <br /> their receipt of the employee's request to enroll <br /> in the Educational Incentive Pay Plan. <br /> <br /> B. The written application submitted to the Educational <br /> Standards Committee must include the following: <br /> <br /> 1.
