Section 17. Credit Union The City shall implement a voluntary payroll deduction option for those employees who wish to join the City and County Employees Credit Union for the purposes of transacting business with such City and County Employees Credit Union. S~ction 18. Educational Incentive Pay Program 18.1 18.2 18.3 The purpose of this plan is to reward those eligible employees having obtained a specific level of educational achievement and, in so doing, have become better qualified to discharge the duties of their respective positions. Eligible Applicants Persons eligible to enroll in the Educational Incentive Plan shall have met all of the following requirements: A. Are permanent (non-probationary) employees with the City of Pleasanton. (Employees on probationary status as a result of promotions shall be deemed eligible under this plan). B. Have met all requirements of their position as set forth in the City's Classification Plan in effect at the time the employee was hired. C. All new employees hired by the City after the date of adoption by the City Council of this Educational Incentive Plan shall be eligible for educational incentive pay for eligible degrees or college credits earned prior to their date of employment at the time they reach the top step of their classi- fication's salary range. Educational Standards Committee An Educational Standards Committee comprised of the President of I.A.F.F. Local 1974, and Assistant to the City Manager, shall be established for the purposes of: A. Determining the eligibility Of each employee to enroll in the Educational Incentive Program. B. Determining successful completion Of the educational level for which educational incentive pay is to be received. 18.4 Enrollment Procedures Employees wishing to enroll in the Educational Incentive Plan must do the following: A. Not later than forty-five (45) days prior to enrolling in a junior college, college or university, make written application to the Education Standards Committee in order that the Committee may determine the employee's eligibility to enroll in the Educational Incentive Plan. The Educational Standards Committee shall inform the employee in writing of their determination not later than thirty (30) days following their receipt of the employee's request to enroll in the Educational Incentive Pay Plan. B. The written application submitted to the Educational Standards Committee must include the following: 1. A description of the educational level to be pursued. -12-
