CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 79-219 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC <br />CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY FOR THE OPERATION OF A <br />TAXI CAB SERVICE WITHIN THE CITY OF PLEASANTON BY <br />FLOYD LEON SMITH AND LOUISE GRACE SMITH <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Floyd Leon Smith and Louise Grace Smith are interested in <br />operating a taxi cab service within the City of Pleasanton <br />in conjunction with a taxi cab service they are operating <br />in the City of Livermore under the name of Valley Cab <br />Company; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the necessary police investigation and report have been <br />prepared pursuant to the aforementioned ordinance and a <br />positive recommendation has been received from the <br />Pleasanton Police Department; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Council, at its meeting of November 13, 1979, held a <br />public hearing and discussed issuing a Certificate of Public <br />Convenience and Necessity to the Smiths pursuant to the City's <br />taxi cab service in the City of Pleasanton; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />a report from the Assistant City Manager dated October 30, 1979, <br />recommending approval of the Certificate was received by City <br />Council at its meeting of November 13, 1979; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at present the applicants do not request a closed taxi stand <br /> but plan to operate the cabs from the homes of the drivers; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the applicants have indicated the rates they wish to charge <br /> for the operation of their cabs in the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Authorizes issuing a Certificate of Public Convenience <br /> and Public Necessity to Floyd Leon Smith and Louise Grace Smith <br /> to operate taxi cabs in the City of Pleasanton designated as <br /> Valley Cab Company subject to the following conditions: <br /> <br />(1) That the sign on each vehicle include both Pleasanton <br /> and Livermore or that the City names be eliminated. <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />That the applicant be required to carry minimun liability <br />insurance coverage of $100,000 per person and $300,000 <br />for more than one person in one accident and that the <br />City be named on the policy as an additional insured. <br /> <br />(3) That home use permits be obtained for any home from <br /> which taxicabs may be dispatched. <br /> <br />III <br /> <br /> <br />
