FROM THE DECISION OF THE <br />PLANNING COMMISSION DENYING INTERSTATE'S APPLICATION <br />FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT TO EXPAND THEIR EXISTING <br />FACILITY AT 65 RAY STREET <br /> <br />the Planning Commission of the City of Pleasanton on <br />August 13, 1980 denied UP-80-14, the application of <br />Interstate Uniform Rental Services, Inc. (hereinafter <br />referred to as Interstate) for a conditional use permit <br />to allow the expansion of the industrial laundry <br />located at 65 Ray Street; and <br /> <br />Interstate appealed the decision of the Planning <br />Commission to the City Council to be heard on September 16, <br />1980 by the City Council; and <br /> <br />Interstate requested a continuance to the meeting of <br />October 28, 1980 to prepare their information; and <br /> <br />on October 28, 1980, a hearing was held in which Inter- <br />state provided testimony as to the basis for its appeal; <br />and <br /> <br />the public hearing was continued to December 9, 1980 <br />to allow the opponents of the conditional use permit <br />to prepare a response to Interstate's testimony; and <br /> <br />on December 9, 1980 the public hearing was re-opened <br />and opponents as well as Interstate provided significant <br />additional testimony; and <br /> <br />the public hearing was closed and the matter continued <br />for decision to December 23, 1980; and <br /> <br />Interstate is located in the C-S (Commercial Services) <br />District, which zoning district is intended for heavy <br />commercial use such as industrial laundries; and <br /> <br />Interstate's operation requires a conditional use permit <br />as it is a "laundry plant;" and <br /> <br />Interstate also requires a conditional use permit as it <br />is a "radioactive materials use;" and <br /> <br />Interstate has requested a permit to expand its existing <br />use by 2,500 square feet for storage only; and <br /> <br /> <br />
