19.9 continued <br /> <br />Employees submitting requests for reimbursement for <br />books shall submit to the Personnel Officer the original <br />purchase receipt in addition to the receipt showing the <br />monies received through resale of said books. <br /> <br />If, however, the books are determined by the Personnel <br />Officer to be an asset to the Ci[y, the Personnel Officer <br />may elect at his/her discretion to reimburse the employee <br />the full cost of said books, the latter becoming the <br />possession of the City. The Personnel Officer's decision <br />regarding the purchase of textbooks shall be final. <br /> <br />Section 20. "Probationary Period <br /> <br />20.1 Length of ProbatiOnary 'Period <br /> All original appointments shallbe tentative and subject <br /> to a probationary period of twelve (12) months actual <br /> service. All promotional appointments shall be tentative <br /> and. subject to a probationary period of six (6) months <br /> actual service. : <br /> <br />20.~ ' NO~ifiC~tlo~ Requirements <br /> <br />A probationary employee 'shall be notified by the -. <br />Personnel Officer forty-five (45) days prior to'the <br />expiratio= date of his/her probationary period. <br /> <br />~i~hin twenty-one (21) day~ prior to the expiration <br />date of the probationary period, the department head <br />shall file with the Personnel Officer a statement as <br />to whether or not the.probationary employee shall be <br />retained in the position. <br /> <br />An employee who is not rejected prior to~the completion <br />of the prescribed'probationary period shall be deemed <br />to have passed the pr~scribed probationa[y period <br />automatically, lsubject to the provisions of Section 20~3. <br /> <br />20.3 <br /> <br />'Extensio~ ~f 'Probabion'aryPeriod <br /> <br /> The probationary period may be extended once by the <br /> Personnel Officer for a period not to exceed ninety (90) <br /> days in order to further evaluate the performange of the <br /> probationary employee. <br /> <br />20.4 <br /> <br />20.5 <br /> <br />Rejectio~ ~f Probat~o~ryEmploye'e"~'O~igi~al Appdintment <br /> <br />The City Manager may terminate a probationary employee <br />during the probationary period upon fifteen (15) days <br />written notice without right of appeal in any manner <br />by the probationary employee. <br /> <br />Rejection Of Probationary Empl'oyee'~.Promotional Appointment <br /> <br />Any employee rejected during the probationary period <br />following a promotional appointment or at the'conclusion <br />of the probationary period shall. be reinstated to a <br />position in the class from which he/she was promoted. <br /> <br />During the first three (3) months of his/her probationary <br />period, the.employee shall have the option of returning <br />to the position he/she previously held. <br /> <br /> <br />
