19.2 <br /> <br />continued <br /> <br />19 <br /> <br />Have met all requirements of their position as set <br />forth in the City's Classification Plan in effect <br />at the time the employee was hired. <br /> <br />All new employees hired by the City after the date <br />of adoption by the City Council of this Educational <br />Incentive Plan shall be eligible for educational <br />incentive pay for eligible degrees or college <br />credits earned prior to their date of employment <br />at the time they reach the top step of ~heir <br />classification's salary range. <br /> <br />Educational Standards 'Committee <br /> <br />An Educational Standards Committee comprised of the <br />President of I.A.F.F. Local 1974, and Assistant to the <br />City Manager, shall be established for the purposes of: <br /> <br />A. Determining the eligibility of each employee <br /> enroll in the Educational Incentive .Program. <br /> <br />B. . De{ermining successful completion of the'educational <br /> level for which educationalincentive pay is'to be <br /> received. <br /> <br />Enrollment. Procedures .. <br /> <br />Employees wishing to enroll in the Educational Incentive <br />Plan must. do the following: <br /> <br /> Not--later than forty-five (45) days prior to enrolling <br /> in a junior college, college or university, make <br />written application to the Education Standards <br />._Committee in order that the Committee may deter~.ne <br /> the employe~'s eligibility to enroll in the Educational <br /> Incentive Plan. The Educational Standards Committee <br /> shall inform the employee in writing of their deter- <br /> mination not later than thirty (30) days following <br /> their receipt of the employee's request to'enroll <br /> in the Educational Incentive'Pay Plan. <br /> <br />The written application submitted to the~Educational <br />Standards Committee must include the following: <br /> <br />1. A description of the educatijnal level to be <br /> pursued. <br /> <br />2. Employees pursuing a specific number of college <br /> credits as set forth in this plan in lieu of <br /> ~ BS or a BA degree must indica{e a major field <br /> of study and submit a list of courses to be <br /> taken in that major field. <br /> <br />Prior to enrollment in a junior'college, college, or <br />university, the employee must have received written <br />approval from the Educational Standards Committee as <br />to his/her eligibility to enroll in the Educational <br />Incentive Plan. -- <br /> <br />NOTE: No employee shall receive educational incentive <br /> pay for any educational level attained unless he/she <br /> has received advanced written approval from the <br /> Educational Standards Committee as set forth in <br /> this section. <br /> <br />-13- <br /> <br /> <br />
