Side Letter of Aereement #3 <br />Use of Paid Sick Leave for Bereavement <br />The parties agree that in the event of a death in the immediate family, employees may take accrued <br />sick leave of up to three (3) days, or up to five (5) days at the discretion of the Chief of Police, in the <br />event of a death of an immediate member ofhis/her family. Bereavement Leave shall be tracked <br />separately from Family Sick Leave as provided in 12.2 (3). Additionally, employees may utilize other <br />paid leaves to extend bereavement leave, subject to approval of the Department. <br />In this context only, immediate family shall be defined as: spouse, domestic partner, child, foster child <br />who resided with the employee at the time of his/her death, stepchild, mother, father, stepmother, <br />stepfather, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother, stepbrother, sister, stepsister, brother-in-law, sister- <br />in-law, grandmother, grandfather, spouse's grandmother, spouse's grandfather, son-in-law, daughter- <br />in-law or grandchildren. <br />Pleasanton Police Officers' Association <br />By: By: <br />~v <br />40 <br />
