Councilman Pearson replied that <br />this statistic is debateable but felt that the basic issue to be <br />considered was the scenic beauty of Foothill ROad and what will <br />happen to this beauty if this zoning is approved. <br /> <br />After some discussion regarding this matter, a substitute motion <br />was made by Councilman Pearson and seconded by Mayor Reid that the <br />application be referred back to the Planning Commission with a rec- <br />ommendation to rezone the entire parcel to Single Family Residence <br />District. <br /> <br />Mayor Reid stated that he seconded Councilman Pearson's motion in <br />order to have a vote called on it. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilman Pearson <br />NOES: Councilmen Beratlis, Gerton, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Reid <br />~BSENT: None <br /> <br />After additional discussion regarding the traffic on Foothill Road, <br />another substitute motion was made by Councilman Pearson and seconded <br />by-ICouncilman Gerton that the recommendation of the Planning Comm- <br />ission be referred back to them with the modification of 10.65 acres <br />be changed to R/4-4000. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding the attachment of a PUD to this multiple <br />zoning. Z4r. Aiello stated that the City would have far more control <br />with precise zoning than it would in a PUD. <br /> <br />The roll call vote ~,~as as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Gerton, Pearson and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: Councilmen Beratlis and Spiliotopoulos <br />ABSENT: ~-]one <br /> <br />Mayor Reid stated that Ordinance No. 625, introduced by Councilman <br />Spiliotopoulos has been superceeded by Councilman Pearson's ~btion <br />which was passed. <br /> <br />Mayor Paid recessed the meeting at 9:55 P.M. <br /> <br />~.~ayor Reid reconvened the meeting at 10:05 P.M. <br /> <br />Application for Tentative Map and pe. vel.op.ment .Plan Review for a <br />townhOuse .development to be tocate~ on property described as a por- <br />tion of Pa~c'ei 2-5, BloCk 11'01, Book' 946 of the 'Alameda County. <br />Assesso'S' s Office, containing approximately 9.1 acres and generally <br />located immediately south of In~rt~-~~- No. 580 and ~easterly of <br />Tassaj..'ara Road. <br /> <br />Mayor Reid declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br />Mr. Aiello displayed a drawing of the development plan and then <br />reviewed his report, dated March 11, 1971. Mr. Aiello also reviewed <br />Resolution No. 1071, adopted by the Planning Commission on March 9, <br />1971, which approved the tentative development plans for PUD 69-8 <br />and then reviewed Resolution No. 1072, adopted by the Planning <br />Commission on March 9, 1971, which approved the tentative Tract <br />Map No. 3297, Fairlands Park. <br /> <br />Mr. Aiello reported that this PUD originally contained 159 unit but <br />had been reduced to 112 units.
