the water heaters in an outside closet. He stated the project was ready to begin <br />for installation of these heaters. <br /> <br /> Dawn Gordner spoke regarding the Emergency Call System. She presented back- <br />ground information stating the system had not been properly installed five years <br />ago and developed trouble about two years ago. She stated the Housing Authority <br />Board had addressed this matter but due to change in personnel a solution to the <br />problem had been delayed. Ms. Gordner stated that funding for the repairs had <br />also been a problem and taken a long time to acquire. She presented the process <br />necessary to receive money for this project. She stated completion of repairs <br />to the Emergency Call System was still several months away, and she urged tenants <br />to check on each other daily. She advised that the residents would be consulted <br />regarding the type of alarm system alert they would prefer Ms. Gordner stated ' <br />the 911 tie-in with the Police Department will be a great help in emergency situa- <br />tions. She added the hiring of a Resident Manager would also assist in aiding <br />residents. Ms. Gordner assured tenants and Council that repairs to the Emergency <br />Call System would be properly done and there would be a Maintenance Agreement to <br />insure against any future problems. <br /> <br /> Ed Alves spoke regarding City Council Liaison to the Housing Authority. He <br />stated that one former liaison Councilmember had never artended a Housing Authority <br />Board meeting. He stated that former liaison Councilmember Brandes had attended <br />less than half the meetings during his tenure in this capacity, and that the present <br />liaison Councilmember Wood had attended all Housing Authority Board meetings since <br />his appointment and had been very helpful in his attendance. Mr. Alves outlined <br />the attempts of the Housing Authority Board to schedule a joint meeting with the <br />City Council, which consisted of a period of over two years, without results. He <br />stated he knew Councilmembers had busy schedules but expressed concern at the lack <br />of communication and interest regarding meeting' with the Housing Authority Board <br />to discuss problems. Mr. Alves listed volunteer work done by each member of the <br />Housing Authority Board and their varied interests and concerns. <br /> <br /> Cecelia Governor, Kottinger representative on the Housing Authority Board, <br />listed a multitude of activities provided for the residents of Kottinger Place <br />and the various uses of the Recreation Center. <br /> <br /> Marie Caughron, Komandorski Village representative on the Housing Authority <br />Board, listed activities provided for the residents of Komandorski Village. <br /> <br /> Penny Deleray spoke regarding new construction at Komandorski Village. She <br />presented background information regarding the application and approval of 150 <br />units, and the time involved to bring this housing to fruition. She stated the <br />Housing Authority Board could be rightfully proud of this accomplishment. Ms. <br />Deleray advised that Council would be kept apprised of construction and stated <br />she felt there should be better communication between City Council and the <br />Housing Authority Board, as they were on the same team working for the better- <br />ment of the community. <br /> <br /> Christine Pearson stated she hoped the Board members had addressed concerns <br />of the Council and tenants, and added that it was the aim of the Housing Authority <br />Board and staff to serve the residents of Kottinger and Komandorski in the best <br />manner possible under Federal regulations and policies.
