The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers- Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico, and Mayor Tarver. <br />NOES: None. <br />ABSENT: None. <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br /> <br /> Item 6b. <br />AP-98-19 (UP-98-76/Z-98-311 and Z-98-310, Jack Chestnut <br />Appeal of the Planning Commission's denial of applications for: (1) a conditional us~ <br />permit and administrative design review approvals to construct a new, one-story, <br />approximately 600 sq.ft. detached secondary unit to be located adjacent to the eastern side <br />yard, in the approximate location of an existing detached accessory structure (the existln. <br />accessory structure would be demolished), and (2) administrative design review approval to <br />construct an approximately 2,436 sq.ft. one and two-story addition to the existing 1,316 <br />sq.ft. dwelling located at 4128 Stanley Boulevard. Zoning for the property is R-l-20,000 <br />District. (SR99:35) <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver said due to the numerous speaker cards on the remaining agenda items, Item <br />41, amend master fee schedule to establish fee for firearm sales permit, would be continued to a <br />future Council meeting. <br /> <br /> Brian Swift presented the staff report. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala asked if the aerial showed the house to scale. <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift said the solid line is the existing house and the dashed line is the addition without <br />the large porch overhang, and the dashed line that runs around the outside is the wrap around porch. <br /> <br /> Jack Chestnut, 3867 Drexel Court, Fremont, explained how he came to purchase the <br />property at 4128 Stanley Boulevard and his intentions for wanting to increase the square footage of <br />the house, to restore its historic character, and to add a 600 sq.ft. detached secondary unit. <br /> <br /> Michael Johnstone, Architect, described the architectural design of the house and how it <br />complements the other homes in the neighborhood. He said the barn has been braced and explained <br />the process for restoring the barn to code. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala asked if bracing the barn made it safer than when the Chestnuts bought the <br />property? <br /> <br /> Mr. Johnstone said a voluntary upgrade was done to stiffen the building, particularly against <br />the wind, but not affecting its appearance, making it much safer. <br /> <br />Pleasanton City Council 11 02/16/99 <br />Minutes <br /> <br /> <br />
