12.4 Vacation Accumulation <br /> <br /> Any eligible employee may be allowed to have an 'accumulation of no more than two (2) <br /> years vacation accrual on his/her anniversary date. If the maximum vacation accrual is <br /> reached, the employee shall temporarily cease the further accrual of vacation until his/her <br /> vacation balance is reduced below the maximum accumulation. An employee reaching <br /> his/her maximum accrual shall be notified in writing by the Personnel Department ninety <br /> (90) days in advance. <br /> <br /> If the requirements of the service are such that an employee cannot take his/her vacation <br /> for purposes of complying with the above, the employee's department head may make <br /> special arrangements including the continuation of vacation accrual to accommodate the <br /> employee if necessary. <br /> <br /> 12.5 Vacation Schedule <br /> <br /> The times during a calendar year at which an employee may take his/her vacation shall be <br /> determined by the Department Head or his/her designee with due regard for the wishes of <br /> the employee and particular regard for the needs of the service. Vacations may not be <br /> taken, however, in connection with an employee leaving City employment. <br /> <br /> If the requirements of the service are such that an employee can not take part or all of <br /> his/her annual vacation in a particular calendar year, such vacation shall be taken during <br /> the following calendar year. <br /> <br /> 12.6 Vacation Pay at Termination <br /> <br /> An employee shall be paid for all accrued vacation leave earned prior to the effective date <br /> of termination. Such compensation for earned vacation shall be paid to the employee in <br /> one lump sum in a final check. <br /> <br /> Section 13. Sick Leave <br /> <br /> 13.1 Sick Leave Accrual <br /> <br /> All new full time employees hired on or after November 1, 1996 shall accrue sick leave at <br /> the rate of eight (8.0) hours for each month of service. Each new full time employee <br /> hired before November 1,1996, shall, during his/her one year probationary period, earn <br /> sick leave at a rate of eight (8.0) hours for each month of service. Upon successfully <br /> completing his/her one year probationary period each new employee shall receive three <br /> hundred eighty-four (384.0) hours sick leave credit in addition to that earned during <br /> probation. Upon completion of five (5) years service, every employee shall thereafter <br /> accumulate sick leave at a rate of eight (8.0) hours per month. <br /> <br /> - 14- <br /> <br /> <br />
