Page 1 of 2 <br />Item #1 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> <br />December 16, 2025 <br />City Council <br /> <br />TITLE: RATIFY MAYOR'S APPOINTMENT OF A VICE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />ASSIGNMENTS TO VARIOUS BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS FOR CALENDAR <br />YEAR 2026 <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br />Each year, the Mayor reviews and revises, as necessary, assignments to various City Council <br />subcommittees and local and regional boards and commissions. Accordingly, the City Council <br />is asked to ratify assignments for 2026. <br /> <br />At the same meeting, a member of the City Council is selected to serve as Vice Mayor for the <br />coming year. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Ratify Mayor's appointment of Councilmember Matt Gaidos as Vice Mayor and the City Council <br />assignments to various boards and commissions for calendar year 2026. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />This item is placed on the agenda in accordance with City Council Rules of Procedure, Section <br />6.2, which stipulates that in December of each year, the Mayor shall appoint, with approval of <br />the City Council, representatives to serve on City Council subcommittees and regional boards <br />and commissions for the next calendar year. At the same meeting, a Councilmember is <br />selected to serve as the Vice Mayor for the upcoming year. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br />The City of Pleasanton is represented by its elected officials on numerous regional <br />organizations having jurisdiction over policy matters affecting the City. In addition, <br />Councilmembers serve on a variety of City Council subcommittees for the purpose of advising <br />the full City Council on other policy matters. Councilmembers have been assigned close to an <br />equal number of boards, as scheduling allows. Changes to this year's subcommittees include <br />the dissolution of the City of Dublin and the City of Livermore liaison subcommittees. The City <br />of Livermore already dissolved this committee in 2025. The cities of Pleasanton, Dublin, and <br />Livermore are committed to continued partnership, collaboration, and communication that will <br />not be adversely impacted by this change. <br /> <br />EQUITY AND SUSTAINABILITY <br />Not applicable, as this item is an administrative matter of City business. <br /> <br />OUTREACH <br />No outreach was conducted as this item is an administrative matter of City business. <br /> <br />Page 5 of 373
