THE CITY OF
PLEASANTON
MEMORANDUM
Date: January 21, 2025
To: Mayor and City Council
From: Gerry Beaudin, City Manager ra
Ca
Joe Testa, Fire Chief
Heidi Murphy, Director of Library and Recreation
Subject: January 21, 2025 City Council Agenda Item #7
It has come to the attention of City staff that the consultant report from NBS was not attached
to agenda item #7 for this evening's meeting. That report is attached here for your review.
In answer to questions that have come up on this item
1. The report lists League fees for comparison cities in Appendix E.
2. The LPFD does not charge for public education related visits where staff are in the
community or the community visits the fire stations. These are generally schools or
playgroups. The LPFD does not book birthday party visits. It is possible that a crew might
swing by informally, again at no charge. With very few exceptions (e.g., the Fire Safety
Expo), these are in-district/in-service crews who will divert to an incident. For a standby
where we are tethered to the event, such as Good Guys, we charge in accordance with
the fee schedule.
3. Restaurants are subject to fire prevention inspections annually. The fees
collected are based on the life safety hazards of the occupancy of all buildings
(including restaurants). The fee covers staff time for preparation, transportation,
inspection, reporting, and other administrative tasks associated with the
inspection.
Attachment:
1.
