Subject: FW: Do Not Violate Measure PP
From: Lou Astbury
Sent: Sunday, November 15, 2015 11:29 PM
To: Mayor and City Council
Subject: Do Not Violate Measure PP
aPOLEn.nENTAl_ MATERIF"_
o the City Counci:
t r 'distribution of Packet
Date
.11- 16 -vo
Dear Pleasanton Council Members,
Like many citizens, I worked hard to protect the hill tops and ridgelines of Pleasanton by gathering signatures
for Measure PP and campaigning for its passage. Despite a highly financed campaign against Measure PP by
developers, I am very proud that our grass roots group protected the beautiful hill tops of Pleasanton by helping
pass Measure PP by a landslide vote.
It is now very disturbing that for political expediency there is consideration before Council to violate the
principles of Measure PP with regard to the Lund Ranch II project. Allowing severe grading, carving and high
retaining walls on steeply sloped ( >25 %) hills in order to build a road for Lund Ranch II is not only against the
law but a slap in the face to the many supporters of Measure PP and to the Citizens of Pleasanton.
There should be no doubt that the road violates Measure PP. On November 27, 2012 the Pleasanton staff
reported that a road is a structure and will "scar" the landscape. The City Council, including current Mayor
Thorne, agreed and voted 5:0 that a road is a structure. In addition, this project will require an 8 ft. retaining
wall within the 100 ft setback of a ridgeline (City's definition of a ridgeline) and this is also a violating
structure. It is clear that this road should not be allowed.
The City Council needs to honor Measure PP and the will of the Citizens of Pleasanton and find an alternative
route or approve a reduction in the number of units to 10 which is allowed under Measure PP.
Thank you for your consideration.
Best Regards,
Lou Astbury
Click here to report this email as spam.
1
