The City of Pleasanton, Open Heart Kitchen and [INSERT OR ANIZATION NAME] are partnering to establish a Regional Refrigeration Project that allows for Tri-Valley based food pantries the opportunity to store food in a centrally located area, thus increasing service capacity, allowing for quicker distribution of supplies to food pantries and the ability to preserve donated food for a longer period of time. This project is an outcome of the Pleasanton Human Services Commission's discussions with local non-profit food organizations that stated one of their most prevalent challenges is the lack of food storage space in the Tri-Valley. The storage units will be located at 3333 Busch Road at the City's Operation Services Center. Three separate units (freezer, dry storage and refrigeration) have been specked out to meet the needs of the agencies. There are several components to this project including site preparation, fencing, and the purchase of the three units. It is estimated that the total cost of this project is $108,390. To date, $51,973 has been raised through grants and donations from the City of Pleasanton, Open Heart Kitchen and Safeway.
