THE CITY OF ATTACHMENT 3
Housing Commission
p LEASANTON. [EXCERPT]
City Council Chambers, 200 Old Bernal Ave., Pleasanton, CA
March 18, 2010
7:00 p.m.
8. PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS
A. Approval of Federal HOME Funds and City Lower Income Housing Funds
Related to the Housing and Human Services Grant (HHSG) Program for Fiscal
Year 2010 -11
Mr. Erickson provided Commissioners with details of the Housing and Human Services
Grant (HHSG) program that was implemented in December 2009 with the start of the
Fiscal Year 2010 funding cycle. He advised that the new HHSG program combines
funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME (Home
Investment Partnership Program) federal grants with two local sources LIHF (Lower
Income Housing Fund) and General Funds allocated for human services. These four
funding sources have been consolidated into a single streamlined grant program.
'I'he Commission was informed that applications were solicited from December 2009
through February 2010. Approximately 30 applications were received by the February 1"
deadline with a total funding request of $1,111,647. The majority of these applications
were reviewed by the Human Services Commission at its March 3` meeting. (Details on
these applications were provided for the Commission to review). However, six (6) of
applications were identified to be funded through HOME and LIHF, and it is the Housing
Commission's role to make funding recommendations for the allocation of funds from
these two sources.
Mr. Erickson further advised that the cities of Livermore and Pleasanton had provided
two grant application distribution workshops for interested parties. He also noted that the
funding recommendations from this Commission and the Human Services Commission
would be forwarded to City Council simultaneously for their consideration in April.
Chairperson Mermelstein opened the meeting for agency presentations at 7:10 p.m.
Page 1
