12 44 <br />Resolution No. 1646 -- Authorizing the Clerk to draw warrants in favor of Mrs. Edith <br />Ziegenfuss, Mrs. Ellen Elsnab, 'Miss Caroline Ward and Ifts. Dora <br />Arendt, for the sum of 65.00 each in payment of services rendered <br />as election officers. The resolution was adopted on motion of <br />Councilman Trimingham and seconded by Councilman Brenner and with <br />all the councilmen'in favor of same. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned a 10:20 o'clock to meet in <br />regular session, Monday evening, June 6th at 8 o lock. <br />Approve d• <br />Clerk <br />Mayor <br />Pleasanton, California, May 13, 193b- <br />The Town Council of the Town of Pleasanton met in special session on the above written <br />date at 8 o'clock with Mayor Thos. Orloff presiding. Present at roll call were: Councilmen <br />Madsen, Trimingham, Brenner and Orloff. Councilmen Rivolta was absent. <br />The Mayor stated that the meeting had been called to consider an application to erect <br />an oil tank etc. on property leased from the Southern Pacific Company by Frank Viada. The <br />Mayor Queried the Clerk with regards to a building permit issued to Mr. Bruce several years <br />ago for an erection of a colas plant etc. on Southern Pacific property. The Clerk advised <br />that he examined the minutes of the Council meetings for a ten year period as well as the <br />building permits for a similar period and no record could be found of Mr. Bruce having <br />made an application--to the City Council or to the building inspector.During the discussion <br />between the Councilmen on the project, it developed that Mr. Viada had mentioned some two <br />years.,ago that he intended to erect tanks for the storage of oil for local distribution. <br />Also that the erection of the tanks on the railroad property in the vicinity of Angela and <br />First Streets would not injure property or be declared a mena:oe• After some discussion <br />on motion of Councilman Trimingham, seconded by Councilman Madsen, it was ordered that a <br />permit be granted to Frank Viada to erect the necessary tanks; the councilmen were all in <br />favor of same. It was understood that the taxes were to be galvanized iron tanks, erected <br />on concrete piers about 7 feet above the ground and to included four - 3000 gallons, or <br />two - 6000 gallon tanks for storing diesel oil and stove oil. <br />Councilman Madsen advised the Council that City Engineer Leonard Sinclair had requested <br />a leave of absence on account of ill health, and that he would be absent from his duties <br />for several months to come as he would require hospital care. Councilman Madsen further <br />advised that Fred C. Madsen, who had served as acting engineer on previous occasions, had <br />been appointed to take care of Mr. Sinclair's duties. There were no objections to same. <br />The Clerk directed the attention of the Council to numerous duties evolved upon <br />him where it was necessary for a Deputy City Clerk to act in his absence and he asked that <br />Miss Victoria Bianchi be designated as Deputy City. Clerk to act without compensation. There <br />was no objection to sane, <br />.A dance permit from Joe Gibson for ar-dance on Friday evening, May 13th was presented <br />and the Clerk stated that he had advised Mr. Gibson to contact members of the council in order <br />to secure the necessary permit. It was ordered that in the future no permits were'to be <br />presented outside of a meeting for official signatures and that all parties concerned with <br />the giving of a dance should understand that the Board would not consider dance applications <br />except at business sessions. <br />There being no further business the meetin <br />regular session, Monday evening, June 6th at 8 o <br />djourned at <br />ock. <br />® I <br />:45 o'clock to meet in <br />Pleasanton, California, June 6, 1938• <br />erk <br />The Town Council of the Town of Pleasanton met in regular session on the above <br />written date with Mayor Thos. Councilman Rivolta was absent. <br />The minutes of the May 3 and 13th meetings were adopted as read, except that <br />Councilman Madsen drew the attention of the Clerk to an om�i:ssion in Re: P.G. &E. matter. <br />The following line occurs "Councilman Madsen expressed himself as he had previously" , <br />Mr. Madsen asked that the line be continued:as - follows: Wand in addition stated he was <br />opposed to granting the franchise as asked for by the Pacific Gas & Electric Company for <br />the distribution of electric energy within the municipality.* <br />The Clerk then read Claims No. 439 to 484 inclusive and amounting to $1,098.79 <br />as follows: <br />
