1928 <br />Councilman Amaral took up the matter of the tree triming:.ordinance and advised <br />the Council that in going over the old ordinances he found one pertaining to the <br />matter so it was not necessary to draft a new ordinance. Councilman Amaral advised <br />that warrants had been issued to the property owners,concerned by the removal of the <br />trees of the Pleasanton Hotel and that sentence was being held up on one of the <br />parties pending the planting of new trees. The said party was given until December <br />31, 1937 to take care of the matter. In view of the fact that the hotel was recently <br />leased, it was ordered that close check of the premise be kept in order to see that <br />the trees were planted. The Chief of Police was instructed to watch the situation. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 90120 o'clock to meet <br />at the call of the chair. <br />// IF <br />er <br />Pleasanton, California, November &9 1937. <br />The Town Council of the Town of Pleasanton was called to order in special' <br />session on the above written date at'7:30 o'clock with Mayor Thos. Orloff presiding. <br />Present at roll. call were: Councilman Madsen, Rivolta and Olesen. Councilman Amaral <br />was absent. <br />Mayor Orloff-stated that the meeting would replace the investigation that the <br />City Council had planned of the Main Street street lights for the evening, on account <br />of the death of Councilman Olesen of the Street and building committee. The Mayor <br />expressed deep regret at the passing of Councilman Olesen and spoke of his services <br />to the community as a business man and for the past three years as a Councilman of <br />the Town of Pleasanton. The Clerk then presented Resolution No. 1630 which was as <br />follows: <br />11WHEREAS, our Heavenly Pather, in His infinite wisdom, has called to his <br />eternal rest our beloved Councilman, Ole Olesen, be it <br />Resolved, that while we deplore the loss of our fellow citizen, whose <br />faithful adherence of the principles of justice a nd`whose efforts were <br />especially directed toward the service of his community and to the faithful <br />performance of his duties as a member of the City Council of the 'town of <br />Pleasanton during the,past.three years - we bow our heads in submission to <br />the will of the Divine Ruler. <br />And while we deeply sympathize with his devoted family in this Sad•;.t 'Your, <br />we feel that our departed friend has gone to his reward after a life full of <br />activity and with his work well done. ,We are conscious that his loss will be <br />felt throughout the community which he served in the dual capacity as an <br />energetic and capable business man, and as a member of our official family <br />charged with the responsibility of conducting the affairs of our municipality <br />for the general welfare of our entire citizentry - <br />Resolved, That the sympathy of the City Council of the 'sown of Pleasanton, <br />be tendered the wife and daughter of our beloved friend; that a copy of these <br />resolutions.be spread upon the minutes of the City Council of the Town of <br />Pleasanton, a copy sent to the bereaved family. "' <br />The resolution was adopted on motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman <br />Rivolta and with all the Councilmen present in favor of same. The Mayor directed <br />the attention of the Council to the funeral of Mr. Olesen at two o'clock on the <br />following afternoon, November 9th at the Pleasanton Presbyterian Church and urged <br />all the Councilmen to attend: <br />A discussion followed with reference to the lights on Main Street and it was <br />generally conceeded that the lights were not uniform, some were dim and others <br />bright and that if the proper effect was to be secured that they must all be uniform. <br />The Clerk was instructed to speak to Mr. Saunders and direct that he look into the <br />matter at his early convenience. <br />The Mayor brought up the -matter of the resolution to be prepared by the City <br />Attorney acting under the suggestion of John Mancini, special engineer for the down <br />of Pleasanton. The Clerk was instructed to talk with Mr; Mancini in an effort to <br />have him contact the City Attorney in advance of the next meeting. <br />A communication was read from the office of the Administrator of Census of <br />Partial employment, gnemployment,a.under date of November 4th; and directed td,- Mayor <br />Orloff: The communication was with reference to the National Unemployment Census <br />to be taken November 16 -20. At the request of the Mayor the City Clerk had obtained <br />certain information from the Post Office Department with reference to the Census. <br />Also to the affect that since the Post Office Department was handling same the only <br />thing required of the municipality would be to co- operate by encouraging all affected <br />to fill out the necessary cards`which would be circulated. The Mayor announced that <br />he would appoint a citizen committee to assist with the work. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 8 :20 o'clock to meet <br />in special session, Monday evening, November 15th 7:30 of <br />Approved: Clerk <br />r <br />
