followed and it seemed generally felt that such an outfit would be very helpful <br />and accordingly on motion of Councilman Olesen, seconded by Councilman Rivolta <br />same was ordered purchased. Councilman Madsen also advised that he had lately had <br />a conversation with Mr. Espy of the San Francisco Water Department and that Mr. <br />Espy had advised that the water was .,coming up fast in the wells in and around <br />Pleasanton. ' <br />Councilman Amaral had nothing in particular to report upon and advised the Councarl <br />that at the next meeting he hoped to have some information with regards the sign <br />matter. <br />Councilman Olesen brought up the matter of the Neal Street crossing and asked <br />the Clerk to read Decision Nb— 39282 of the Railroad Commission of the State of <br />941iforn•ia setting forth its opinion and order. At the conclusion of the reading <br />of the decision, Mayor Orloff expressed himself as feeling that the cost to the <br />city for- the work to,.-be 'done-was a little excessive and that he felt that same <br />might be reduced. Mr. Nilson-exp.lained the matter as contained in the decision <br />and `also that the Southern Pacific had referred it to -its proper authorities who <br />had accepted the decision. He recommended that the town do the same. Stir. Nilson <br />also discussed the costs of the work which would aggregate about $2100.00 and also <br />mentioned that the details of the work Could have to. be worked out with the railroad <br />cormnissionbefore the work could be proceeded with. There was no action taken by <br />the council on the work to be done. Gouncilman Olesen also brought to the attention <br />of the Council that he had met Mr. Harding of the First-National Bank and took <br />up the matter with him as regards the curb and gutter and sidewalk in the immediate <br />vicinity of the bank. Mr. Harding promised to report the matter to the bank <br />officials at an early date and to advise Mr. Olesen thereafter. Councilman Oi'esen <br />also brought up the matter of tree.plarting to be done within the city limits <br />this coming spring. He reported that the Woman's Improvement Club -were.,rilling <br />to assist with the expense of procuring the trees. Following a short discussion <br />among the councilmen it-was decided to see how many trees would be'needed and also <br />to regard the wishes of some of the property owners with regards the trees to be <br />planted in front of their respective property. Mr. Olesen also discussed the <br />garbage situation and reported that recently parties had spoken to him concerning <br />procuring a license to carry on this business. Mr. Olesen was advised that no <br />license had been charged garbage dealers in the past, they being permitted to <br />operate.within the city limits at the pleasure of the council providing that they <br />carried on their work satisfactorily. 'Mr. Olesen also brought up the matter of <br />putting in sidewalks in certain sections of the municipality as a WPA project. <br />After a short discussion it was ordered that Mr. Olesen should investigate the - <br />matter and.report on same at the next meeting. <br />The following resolutions were then presented: <br />Resolution No.1603 -- Authorizing the payment -of the: salaries of the municipal <br />officers for the month of December and amounting to $770.00. <br />Resolution No. 1604 -- Authorizing and instructing the <br />the Town Treasurer for the sum of $50.00 in payment <br />$12.50 each and amounting to $50.00 on the Municipal <br />Action on the resolutions taken as follows: <br />Resolution No. 1603 -- Adopted on motion of Councilman <br />Rivolta with all the councilmen <br />Clerk to draw a warrant on <br />of 4 coupons of interest ,@ <br />Water Bonds. <br />Madsen, seconded by Councilman <br />in favor of same. <br />Resolution No. 1604 -- Adopted on motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded by,Councilman <br />Rivolta and with all the councilmen in favor of same. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 9:35 o'clock to meet <br />in regular session, Monday evening, February let at 7:30 P.M. <br />Appro d: Clerk <br />od vorgy—)A <br />Pleasanton, Palifornia, February 1, 1937- <br />The Town Council of the Town of Pleasanton was called to order at 7130 on the <br />above *wri tten date with Mayor Thos.
