1191 <br />Treasurers -- Showing that the Water Deposit'Fund had $66.00 on hand per last report <br />and since then $7.50 had been collected making a total of $73.50., less amount of <br />warrants paid out $5..00, leaving $68.50,in the Water Deposit -Fund. The Mater Surplus <br />Fund had $15.99 on hand per last report. There were no deposits or withdrawals during <br />the month. The Curb)and butter- Project had $277-23 on hand per last report and since <br />then $17.93 had been.collected making a total of 4295.86 in the Curb and Gutter Fund. <br />The General Fund had $4423.99 on hand per last report and since then collections had <br />amounted to $1127.71, making a total of $5551.70, less amount of warrants paid out <br />$1484.18, leaving .a cash balance in the hands of the Treasurer of $4067..52. <br />F'i re. Qhi of : -- Report of activities during the month of September, 1936. <br />City Judaea -_The report showed that $30.00 had been collected during September, 1936. <br />Heal th Officer: -- Showing report of activities during the month of September. <br />Building. Inspector: -- Report showed that, two building permits and three electrical <br />permits had been granted during the month. <br />Ashton Br.i.t.ten: -- Showing laboratory reports for the months of" August and September, 1936.. <br />The reports were referred to the finance committee for audit and report. <br />The clerk then read the following communications: <br />September 15, Thomas H. Silver, in re: trip to the east and requesting leave of absence <br />for 45 days. <br />October 3, Local Option, League of California Municipalities, in re: local option etc. <br />October 5. Charles A. Gale, petitioning the Board to give him notice in the future <br />should the closing or use of Neal Street for other purposes than use of a street be under <br />consideratign. <br />The Clerk then presented an application for a dance permit, by the St. Augustine's <br />Social Club for a dance at the I.D.E.S. Hall on October 17th. There were no objections <br />to same and the dance permit was granted. <br />A recess followed during which the finance committee a xamined'Claims No. 146 to 189 <br />inclusive and amounting to $735.55• After the meeting had been called to order again, <br />Councilman Rivolta'of the finance committee reported that the committee had examined <br />and approved the claims and made a motion to the effect that they be paid. His motion <br />was seconded by Councilman Madsen, and with all the councilmen in favor of same. <br />Councilman Rivolta also reported that the officers'. monthly reports were accepted and <br />moved that they-be placed on file. <br />Action on the communications taken as follows: <br />.September 15th: T. H. Silver. On motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman <br />Amaral the Board concurred in the•appointment of William F. Hall to act as Deputy. <br />Following this action the City Attorney was queried with regards.to the legality of <br />the matter and he desired further time to check same. He instructed-that Mr. Hall <br />should not countersign the checks and that he should not endorse checks etc. <br />October Ird: Local Option, League of California Municipalities. Filed. <br />October 3rd: Charles A. Gale. Filed. <br />Councilman Madsen of the Public_ Utilities Committee reported progress. <br />Councilman Amaral of the Laws and Judiciary Committee had nothing to report. <br />Councilman Olesen of the Street and Building Committee also reported success <br />with his work. He brought to the attention of the Council the garbage matter reporting <br />that same had not bee satisfactory even though Mr. Z-unino had been spoken to. After <br />some disucussion on the matter during which the,Councilmen all agreed that Mr. Zunino <br />had failed in his duties, the Clerk was instructed to write to him advising him that <br />they would not allow him to enjoy the privileges -extended him further than this month <br />unless he improved upon his service. Councilman Olesen queried Attorney Nilson with <br />regards to the hearing on the 1Teal Street crossing and.Mr. Nilson informed him that <br />same had been set to be heard not later than the first week in November. <br />The Clerk then presented-the report of Edward Silveria who had audited the <br />municipal books. The auditor certified "that the accounts have been maintained <br />properly according to the methods in use." Some diseusston followed relative to <br />the suggestions ' made -by Mr. Silveria which will be further heard and acted upon at <br />the next meeting. On motion of Councilman Viral seconded by Councilman Madsen and <br />with all the councilmen in favor of same the report of-Mi. Silveria was accepted and. <br />the Clerk was instructed to-.draw a warrant in favor of him for $50.00 for services <br />,rendered. <br />Fire Chief Letham spoke with .regards to new fire `hose needed, especially li inch <br />hose. The matter was referred to Councilman Rivolta with power to act.. <br />Resolution No. 1598 authorizing the payment of the salaries of the municipal <br />officers for the month of September-amounting to $770.00 was then . On Of Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman Rivolta and with all thescouncilmen motion <br />favor of same the resolution was adopted. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjou ned at 9x30 o'clock to meet.: ,In <br />regular session Monday evening November 2 at :30 o'cl k <br />Approved: <br />Town Clerk <br />yor <br />
