.x 15 6 <br />Milk Inspector:--Showing laboratory report of milk samples for November, 1935- <br />%he reports were referred to the finance committee for examination and <br />report. <br />The following communications were then read: <br />November 7th: Alameda County Building Trades Council, asking that the prevailing <br />wage scale paid on SPA be under taken by the municipality. <br />14th: Law offices of Charles A. Gale, advising that claims of the Town <br />of Pleasanton against the Jerome Arendt estate could not be paid <br />in full and that 572 0 of the amount due and owing was being paid. <br />15th: G. H. Saunders, Agent, Pacific Gas & Electric Company, advising <br />with regards to power used at the sewer farm and the rate charged. <br />Also attaching schedule and .comparing Rate C -1 and P -1. <br />18th: Hollis R. Thompsen, City Manager of Berkeley, advising with <br />reference to franchise. <br />25th: Paul E. Sloan, of the legal department of the Pacific Gas & Elec- <br />tric Company advising with regards to the cities having granted <br />franchises similar to the one asked of Pleasanton during the <br />past six months,. <br />29th: Ashton Britten, special memo oil conditions at the sewer farm, <br />together with expense account of $28.30 and report made of the <br />Garatti distillery. <br />D•e6embdr 2nd: Anna Lehman, requesting permission to remove a.large poplar <br />tree in front of, her property. <br />A recess followed during which the finance committee examined Claims No. <br />225 to 274 inclusive and amounting to $955.0.9. After the meeting had been <br />called to order again, Councilman Rivolta of the finance committee reported <br />that the committee had examined and approved•Claims No. 225 to 274 inclusive <br />and amounting to $955.09• On motion of Councilman Rivolta, seconded by <br />Councilman Madsen and with all the councilmen in favor of same, the claims <br />were. ordered paid. Councilman Rivolta also reported that the officers' <br />monthly reports were accepted and moved that they be placed on file. <br />Action on the communications were then ,taken as follows: <br />November 7th: Alameda County Building Trades Council. The Clerk was instructed <br />to answer the communication to the affect that the Council would <br />abide by the prevailing wage scale. <br />" <br />to 14th: Law offices of Charles A. Gale. Letter and report filed. <br />Dedember 2nd: Anna Lehman. Councilman Olesen was instructed to get in touch <br />with Mrs. Lehman and advise her that the Council had no objections <br />to removing the tree in front of her property and asking her <br />to plan another tree to replace it. Councilman Olesen also brought <br />up the matter of removing a tree .in front of the Davis property <br />on Second Street and one in front-of the Johnson cottage also on <br />Second Street. The Council went on record as favoring the <br />removal of these trees and also the replacing of new trees. <br />Mr. Richards who owns property on lower Division Street was present at <br />the meeting and the IALayor requested that consideration be given to certain <br />matters in connection with gravel to-be purchas -ed from Mr. Richards and <br />accordingly, this business matter was brought up in advance of others. The <br />Council questioned Mr. Richards with reference to whether or not he had any <br />objections to the slope wall being constructed along his property and if he <br />would be willing to deed a small portion to the municipality if same was <br />required. Attorney Nilson .then explained with reference to the improvement <br />to go along private property, the survey to be made and the necessity of the <br />town acquiring such portion as would be needed. Mr. Richards was asked with <br />regards to prices on gravel, in view of the fact that the Council would require <br />a certain amount for the slope wall. Mr. Richards advised that the gravel <br />would be.25X per cubic yard in the creek, 50g delivered on the bank and <br />65,e-for graded gravel. Some discussion followed with reference to the survey <br />to be made along the property of 1`d'Ir. Richards and Mrs. Lewis, and it was <br />decided that an engineer should be secured to make the proper survey and <br />prepare the necessary description. The discussion concluded with the Council <br />expressing its villin guess to make the necessary survey and prepare the <br />necessary descriptions at the expense of the municipality and also with Mr. <br />;Richards agreeing °to sign the necessary•-,deed after same had been prepared <br />A by the City Attorney from descriptions etc. made by hlr. Mancini. The Clerk was <br />instructed to contact Mrs. Lewis with regards to her deed, on or before the <br />securing of the deed foram from the City Attorney. <br />
