THE CITY OF <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />j~L~~S~4NTONo <br />February 3, 2009 <br />danaa",~2009 <br />Administrative Services <br />City Attorney <br />TITLE: BIENNIAL REVIEW OF CITY'S CONFLICT OF INTEREST CODE; ADOPT <br />A RESOLUTION ADOPTING AN AMENDED CONFLICT OF INTEREST <br />CODE AND A REVISED LIST OF DESIGNATED POSITIONS REQUIRED <br />TO FILE STATEMENTS OF ECONOMIC INTERESTS, AND INTRODUCE <br />AN ORDINANCE REPEALING CHAPTER 1.10 OF PLEASANTON <br />MUNICIPAL CODE <br />SUMMARY <br />The Political Reform Act requires every local government agency to biennially review its <br />Conflict of Interest Code. The City Attorney and City Clerk have reviewed the City's <br />Code concerning designated employees and determined that amendments are <br />necessary in order to add, delete, or reclassify the titles of various classifications. State <br />law allows the City to implement these changes by resolution or by ordinance. The City <br />Attorney and City Clerk wish to repeal the ordinance and instead adopt the conflict of <br />interest code via resolution. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt the attached resolution amending the City's Conflict of Interest Code concerning <br />city employees to add, delete, and/or revise classifications; and introduce an ordinance <br />repealing Chapter 1.10 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code. <br />2 <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />There will be no fiscal impact associated with this action. <br />
