NOW, THEREFORE, BE Ii' <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLUTION NO. 163 <br />WIEREAS, this Commission has discussed certain changes to Ordinance No. 309 <br />regarding blast and fallout shelters; and <br />WHEREAS, it has been decided that said changes would be beneficial; <br />RESOLVED, that the following proposed Amendments to Ordinance No. 309 be <br />recommended by this Commission for adoption by the City Council; <br />a. All shelters constructed within the front yard setback <br />must be underground with no change in the existing grade. <br />No setback is required for the structure. <br />b. Protrusions from shelters constructed within the front <br />yard setback must maintain a 5 foot setback and may not <br />protrude above 30 inches in height from the existing <br />grade. <br />c. Shelters constructed within the rear yard may be either <br />above or below ground. An above ground shelter is one <br />where the existing grade of the yard is changed in any <br />manner. <br />d. Below ground shelters constructed within the rear yard <br />need not provide for setbacks for eibher the structure <br />or protrusions therefrom. <br />e. Above ground shelters constructed within the rear yard <br />must maintain a 5 foot setback for the structure. <br />f. Protrusions from above ground shelters constructed with- <br />in the rear yard may not protrude above 6 feet in height <br />from the existing grade. <br />g. All shelters constructed within the side yard setback <br />must be underground with no change in the existing <br />grade. No setback is required for the structure. <br />h. Protrusions from shelters constructed within the side <br />yard must maintain a setback of 3 feet and may not pro- <br />trude above 30 inches in height from the existing grade. <br />i. The location of all shelters proposed to be constructed <br />within the front yard or side yard require prior approval <br />by the City Engineer. <br />
