PLANNING COMMISSION City of Pleasanton RESOLUTION N0. 1170 A resolution of the Planning Commission of the City of Pleasanton denying Parka and Recreation Commission Resolution No. PR-72-1, Motorized Bikes and Horse Riding Trails. WHEREAS, the Planning Commission did review a referral from the Parks & Recreation Commission recommending that an undeveloped portion of the Youth Sports and Recreation Park be reserved for use by motorized bikes until such time as the area is ready for development, and, IEiEREAS, the Parks ~ Recreation Commission further recommends that Bonita Park be designated as the only proper facility within the City of Pleasanton for horse- back riding, and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has examined all pertinent maps, documents and testimony and finds that the following situations do exist: 1. That the existing street improvements Leading to the Youth Sports and Recreation Park are insufficient to accommodate any safety standards for the protection of children and/or adults using those rights-of-way. 2. That the Commission still feels that the use of this land for motorized vehicles is a questionable one and cites problems with dust, noise, proximity to other residential areas and safety standards that may possibly be associated with vehicles of this type as further reasons. 3. That the horse trail system should be diversi- fied throughout the community as opposed to restricting said use only to Bonita Park, and further, that if such a program is expanded throughout the City, that an equestrian signing program be developed advising people of such trail systems. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Planning Commission hereby modifies the Parks ~ Recreation Commission's Resolution No. 72-1 with the following action: 1. That the motorized bikes be prohibited at this time from the Youth Sports & Recreation Park. 2. That horseback riding not be confined solely to Bonita Park and that an equestrian signing program be implemented throughout the City.
