<br />MINUTES <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />July 17, 2007 <br /> <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Hosterman called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and Councilmember Cook-Kallio led <br />the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />Introductory Comments <br />Councilmember Cook-Kallio noted the following events: The Pleasanton Downtown Association <br />is hosting its 7th annual summer Wine Stroll this Thursday, July 19; City of Pleasanton Civic <br />Arts will host Woman’s Will – the all-female Shakespearean troupe – in its production of Romeo <br />and Juliet at Centennial Park on Saturday, July 28; First Wednesday Street Party on August 1; <br />Thoroughly Modern Millie is playing at the Amador Theater July 20 through August 5. In <br />addition, she advised that the Valley Avenue extension is scheduled to open on Thursday, July <br />19; Junipero Street between Case Avenue and Sunol Boulevard has been renamed Valley <br />Avenue; the new traffic signal at Case and Valley Avenues has been activated. <br /> <br />Closed Session Report <br />City Attorney Michael Roush reported from Closed Session; that a tentative agreement had <br />been reached with Firefighters Union Local 1974 and the City Manager has been directed to <br />return with the final details and place it on the Council agenda in the future for further discussion <br />and consideration; that real property negotiations was held regarding a proposed park on the <br />Staples Ranch property, the Council directed the City Manager to pursue the purchase of a 5- <br />acre neighborhood park on the property and to return to Council with purchase agreements for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Present: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br />Absent: Councilmember Sullivan <br /> <br />AGENDA AMENDMENTS – <br />None <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Sang Lee addressed the City Council regarding resolutions relating to weed abatement (Item 7) <br />which were passed in March and April. He said he did not receive notice and questioned <br />whether or not natural plants were regarded as weeds and considered a fire risk. He objected <br />to the City’s lien process. <br /> <br />st <br />Scott Deaver, Assistant Fire Marshall indicated a notice was sent on March 21 to each owner <br />based on information from the tax rolls. He suggested Mr. Lee speak with him regarding his <br />parcel and address information. <br /> <br />Julie Testa requested Items 4 and 18 be removed from the Consent Calendar and heard under <br />the regular agenda. <br /> <br />Anne Fox also requested Item 4 be removed from the Consent Calendar and heard under the <br />regular agenda. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
