<br /> MINUTES <br /> OF THE <br /> JOINT WORKSHOP <br /> OF THE <br /> CITY COUNCIL AND CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION <br /> September 6, 2005 <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> The joint workshop was called to order at 5:06 p.m. by Mayor Jennifer <br />Hosterman. <br /> Those in attendance were: City Councilmembers Steve Brozosky, Cindy <br />McGovern, Matthew Sullivan, Jerry Thorne, and Mayor Jennifer Hosterman; Civic Arts <br />Commissioners Gerald Hedstrom, Margene Gerton-Rivara, Tegan McLane, R. Jo Molz, <br />Holly Nelson, Nancy Scotto, and Howard Seebach. Staff members present were: <br />Nelson Fialho, City Manager; Michael Roush, City Attorney; James W. Wolfe, Director <br />of Parks and Community Services; Andy Jorgensen, Civic Arts Manager. <br /> Commissioner Tony Rivera was absent. <br />2. Preliminarv Review of Conceotual/Schematic Desian and Develooment Strateaies <br />for the Prooosed Firehouse Arts Center (SR 05:241) <br /> Andy Jorgenson presented the staff report regarding the proposed Firehouse <br />Arts Center and introduced the representatives from ELS Architecture & Urban Design. <br /> The architects Kurt Schindler and Ed Noland, ELS Architecture and Urban <br />Design, reviewed the community process, project vision, existing context, program, <br />building analysis, plan concepts, refined plan, elevations, materials and models, <br />perspective views, the construction budget, reviewed cost saving alternatives, and cost <br />perspective. <br /> Mr. Jorgenson reported on the Civic Arts Cultural Arts Foundation, which was <br />formed to raise funds for the building. <br /> Greg Resnick provided an update on the fundraising progress for the past three <br />years as well as plans for future activities. He reviewed the members of the Foundation <br />and their experience in fund raising and participation in the arts programs. <br />Joint Workshop <br />City Council/Civic Arts Commission 1 09/06/05 <br />
