MINUTES <br /> OF THE <br /> SPECIAL MEETING <br /> OF THE <br /> <br />PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />October 12, 2004 <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br /> The special meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Pico at <br />7:03 p.m. <br /> <br />2. ROLL CALL <br /> <br /> Assistant City Attorney Lynn Tracy Nerland called the roll, which is recorded as <br />follows: Councilmembers present were Kay Ayala, Steve Brozosky, Matt Campbell, <br />Jennifer Hosterman, and Mayor Tom Pico. Staff members present were: Nelson Fialho, <br />Deputy City Manager. <br /> <br />3. MEETINGS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENT OF CITY MANAGER AND APPROVAL OF A CITY/CITY <br /> <br />MANAGER CONTRACT <br /> <br /> Mayor Pico described the recruitment process and the involvement of existing <br />Councilmembers and Council candidates. He stated that the decision to appoint Nelson <br />Fialho was unanimous. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mayor Pico, seconded by Ms. Ayala, to appoint Nelson <br />Fialho as City Manager, effective October 13, 2004, and to approve an employment <br />contract between the City of Pleasanton and Nelson Fialho. <br /> <br /> Councilmembers Ayala, Brozosky, Campbell, and Hosterman all gave <br />acclamations for Nelson Fialho. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pico also commented favorably on Deborah McKeehan's 14-year tenure <br />with the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />Pleasanton City Council 1 10/12/04 <br />Minutes <br /> <br /> <br />
