JOINT WORKSHOP <br /> PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL - PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> <br /> MINUTES <br /> <br /> June 29, 2004 <br /> <br />1. Workshop Call to Order <br /> <br />The Joint Workshop was called to order at 6:37 p.m. <br /> <br />The pledge of allegiance was lead by Mayor Tom Pico. <br /> <br />Councilmembers present were Kay Ayala, Steve Brozosky, Matt Campbell, Jennifer <br />Hosterman and Mayor Tom Pico. Planning Commissioners present were Brian Arkin, <br />Anne Fox, Trish Maas, Matt Sullivan and Chairperson Mary Roberts. Commissioner <br />Harvey Kameny was absent and excused. Staff members present were Deborah <br />McKeehan, City Manager; Michael Roush, City Attorney; Steven Bocian, Deputy City <br />Manager; Brian Swift, Director of Planning and Community Development; and Marsha <br />Schmiegel, Deputy City Clerk. <br /> <br />2. Meeting Open to the Public <br /> <br />Meeting Open to the Public was opened by Mayor Pico. There were no speakers and <br />Meeting Open to the Public was closed. <br /> <br />3. Discussion of High Density Housing (SR 04:163) and Inclusionary gonin~ <br /> Ordinance (SR 04:164) for the Land Use Element of the General plan <br /> <br />Steven Bocian presented the lnclusionary Zoning Ordinance portion of the staff report. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ayala asked if staff had talked with other cities and discovered other <br />ideas on implementing the program. <br /> <br />Mr. Bocian said there are two areas to consider: (1) increasing the number of multi- <br />family units from 15% to 25% to be consistent with the housing element; and (2) <br />improving the program that closely monitors who is eligible for the homes. <br /> <br />Brian Swift presented the High Density Housing portion of the staff report. <br />Councilmember Campbell asked how many options is staff going to be able to handle. <br />Mr. Swift said three or four large areas would be reasonable. <br /> <br />Minutes of the 1 06.29.04 <br />Joint Workshop <br />City Council & Planning Commission <br /> <br /> <br />
