MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL 6:30 P.M. September 18, 2001 CLOSED SESSION Conference with real property negotiator Deborah McKeehan regarding consideration of options to potentially obtain 3231 Vineyard Avenue, 3263 Vineyard Avenue, 4202 Stanley Boulevard, and/or 735 Rose Avenue (mobile home parks). 1. CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Tom Pico at 7:00 p.m. The Pleasanton Police Department Color Guard presented the flag along with members of the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department and Mr. Campbell led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance. All assembled sang "God Bless America". Mayor Pico requested a moment of silence to honor those lost in the attack on the World Trade Center in New York City, at the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and on Flight 93 in Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001. Allen McFee played "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes. Mayor Pico noted the recent passing of the Chieftan of the Caledonian Club, Ralph Black and asked that people honor his memory and his service to the community and the Caledonians. Ms. Dennis read a tribute to Thomas Burnett, Senior Vice President of Thoratec, Inc., who, along with others, gave his own life to prevent a possible fourth aerial attack. Ms. Michelotti read a commendation for the New York City and Arlington, Virginia, Public Safety workers and volunteers who have assisted and continue to assist in the rescue and recovery efforts in this time of national tragedy. Mayor Pico expressed his appreciation for the inter-faith services held last weekend. He recognized the efforts of Susan Zablocki and Amy Peterson in organizing the candle light vigil at Wayside Park on Friday, September 14, 2001. The young women indicated $1,200 had been collected at the event for a donation to the Red Cross. He also recognized Rosemary and Joe Ortega, who organized a neighborhood vigil.
