MINUTES of THE MEETING of THE CITY COUNCIL May 2, 1978 CALL TO ORDER ,Mayor Kenneth Mercer called the Special Meeting of the City Council to order at 7:30 P.M., for Budget Reviews. ROLL CALL The roll call is recorded as follows: Councilmen Brandes, Butler, Kephart, Wood, and Mayor Mercer were present Mr Brown, City Manager, Mr. Walker, · . Assistant to the City Manager, Mr. Caporusso, Director of Recreation and Human Services, Mr. Hill, Fire Chief, and Mr. Miller, Assistant to the City Manager, were present. CONSiDER 1978-79 BUDGET Recreation Mr. Caporusso presented the Recreation and Human Services Department budget. After various questions and discussion, Council made no changes in the budget for Recreation at this time. Councilman Brandes requested that the funding for the Human Services activity be suspended for further discussion. Fire Department Chief Hill presented the Fire Department Budget. Various questions and dis- cussion ensued regarding this budget. Councilman Brandes inquired about the City's building codes and use of sprinkler systems. Mr. Broxcn responded that the 1976 Uniform Building Codes will be presented to Council soon and in- creased use of sprinklers can be discussed at that time. Council made no changes in the Fire Department Budget at this time. Support Services Mr. ~iiller presented the Budget for Support Services. Councilman Butler asked about vehicle use and assignment. Mr. Brown stated that staff will pre- pare a report to include a list of assigned vehicles and use, Vehicle Use Policy, vehicle replacement fund, and condition of vehicles, for the informa- tion of Council. After various questions and discussion, Council made no changes in the Support Services Budget at this time. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business at 9:55 P.M., Mayor Mercer adjourned the meeting, to meet again in Special Session on May 8, 1978, 7:00 P.M., in the Pleasanton Council Chambers.
