MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> March 13, 1979 <br /> <br />INTERVIEWS FOR PARK AND RECREATION CO~4ISSIONERS <br /> Council met at 6:30 P.M., to interview the following persons for consideration <br />of appointment to fill the two vacancies on the Park and Recreation Commission: <br /> <br /> Jim Bruno <br /> Don Burdusis <br /> Donald E. Davis <br /> Terry A. Exner <br /> Evelyn King <br /> Brian Laughlin <br /> William F. Owen <br /> <br />CALL TO OP~DER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> Mayor Kenneth Mercer called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order <br />at 8:00 P oM., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Kephart, Wood, and Mayor Mercer were present. Mr. <br />Brown, City Manager, Mr. Levine, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Director of Public <br />Works and Utilities, and Mr. }Larris, Director of Planning and Com~nunity Develop- <br />ment, were present. <br /> <br />AGE~DA A/~EN~MENTS <br /> Mr. Brown requested that an item be added to the agenda as item 14b - Condo- <br />minium Conversation Moratorium. <br /> <br /> Mr. Brown advised there would be an F~xecutive Session at the conclusion of <br />this meeting to discuss personnel. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes suggested that item 13a - Requests for Connection to <br />Sewer System: Remen Track Area and Happy Valley Area, be referred to the Planning <br />Commission for their review and recommendation before consideration by Council. <br />Mayor ~{eEcer stated he felt a decision should be made on this matter by Council <br />at this tLme. He also suggested that this item be moved from item 13a to 9d. <br />Council concurred. <br /> <br />REORGANiZJ_TION OF CITY COUNCIL <br /> M~%yor Mercer stated it was now in order to consider reorganization of the City <br />Council, He stated he was not seeking reappointment as Mayor. Mayor t{ercer stated <br />he was d~epiy honored to have served as Mayor for the past year. He thanked former <br />Mayor Ph-Z.'Lcox, Councilmembers, his family, and City staff and the community for <br />their support and assistance in making this a high point in his life. Mayor Mercer <br />also congratulated newly elected ~ayor Kamena as Mayor of Livermore. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer opened the meeting for nominations as Mayor. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Kephart, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, <br />that Councilmember Brandes be nominated as Mayor. <br /> <br /> <br />
