MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> June 24, 1980 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> Mayor Kenneth Mercer called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at <br /> 8:00 P.M., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br /> Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer were present. Councilmember <br /> Kephart was absent. Mr. Walker, City Manager, Mr. Levine, City Attorney, Mr. <br /> Harris, Director of Planning and Community Development, Mr. Schaumburg, Director <br /> of Engineering Services, Mr. Hill, Fire Chief, }~s. Bengtson, Director of Recrea- <br /> tion and Hu~n Resources, and Mrs. Wagner, Director of Finance, were present. <br /> <br />AGENDAAMENDMENTS <br /> Councilmember Wood requested that item 9a - Adoption of Ordinance No. 936, <br />regulating Condominium Conversions in the City of Pleasanton, be continued to the <br />City Council meeting of July 8, 1980, for full Council attendance. Council con- <br />curred. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated that anyone in the audience at this meeting coul~ speak <br /> on this item, if they were unable to be present at the July 8th meeting. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bob Dimeno, President of the Southern Alameda County Apartment O~mers Asso- <br />ciation, stated this group, consisting of approximately 1,000 members, were in <br />opposition to the ordinance because it does not provide for a renter who could not <br />normally afford to own, it restricts an owner from doing what he wants to do with <br />his property, and it will not encourage good, clean affordable housing in Pleasan- <br />ton. Mr. Dimeno stated he felt there should be an incentive to provide increased <br />housing and suggested there not be any restricted ordinance to regulate this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer suggested that any comments regarding this itembe transmitted in <br />writing to the City Council before the meeting of July 8, 1980. <br /> <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, that <br /> the following items listed on the Consent Calendar be approved: <br /> <br /> a. Approval of City Council Minutes for 6-2-80, 6-3-80, 6-9-80, and 6-10-80. <br /> <br />b. Adoption of Resolution No. 80-161, approving Claims for the month of May, 1980, <br /> in the amount of $758,778.04. <br /> <br />c. Adoption of Resolution No. 80-162, accepting Project No. 79-16, Central Business <br /> District Sewer Replacement Phase I, approving final payment to Manuel C. Jardim, <br /> Inc., in the amount of $122.84, and authorizing the City Attorney to file the <br /> Notice of Completion. <br /> <br /> d. By motion, authorized staff to prepare a letter for the Mayor's signature <br /> indicating that Pleasanton is opposed to SB 1887 and SB 1960, regarding pend- <br /> ing Mobile Home legislation. <br /> <br /> <br />
