MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> April 20, 1982 <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> Mayor Kenneth Mercer called the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council <br />to order at 5:30 P.M., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer were present. Mr. <br />Walker, City Manager, Mr. Swift, Acting City Attorney, and Mr. Warnick, Director <br />of Public Works and Utilities, were present. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION TO COUNCILMEMBER KEPHART <br /> Mayor Mercer presented a plaque to Councilmember Kephart on behalf of the City <br />Council, expressing their appreciation to him for his dedication and thanking him <br />for his fine efforts for the past four years as a member of the City Council. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Kephart thanked the City Council for the plaque. He acknowledged <br />the people of Pleasanton for allowing him to serve them, acknowledged the City <br />Council for having the strong will to contest him when they disagreed with him and <br />for their strong support when they agreed with him. He thanked his wife and family <br />for sharing his time with the City, and stated that it is a sincere commitment of <br />the family to share with the community. Councilmember Kephart stated he felt good <br />about the things that have been accomplished in the past four yea~s~in the City. He <br />cited criminal justice for making the community more safe; decreased number of acci- <br />dents relative to motorcycle patrol; youth sports park and other parks to encourage <br />youth activities; the commercial profile which is now a reality; and the growth <br />management plan for better growth control. He concluded by stating he was happy <br />to be a part of this positive step forward in the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />SPECIAL REPORTS <br />Canvass of Ballots and Confirmation of Elections Results <br /> Mr. Walker presented the draft resolution declaring the results of the 1982 <br />Municipal Election. He stated that a recount done on this date revealed that Candi- <br />date Harris had one less vote, and that Candidates Brandes and Wood each had one <br />additional vote than in the original canvass. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mohr, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, that <br />Resolution No. 82-128, declaring the following results of the Municipal Election <br />held on April 13, 1982, to elect two councilmembers and to render an advisory opinion <br />on Measure A concerning the peripheral canal: <br /> <br /> <br />
