129 <br /> <br /> MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> August 24, 1982 <br /> <br /> CO~{ENDATION TO POLICE OFFICER JIM BALCH <br /> ~yor Robert Butler presented Police Officer Jim Balch with City Council Resolu- <br /> tion No. 82-309, commending him for his dedication ~duty and fast actions at the <br /> scene of a fire at the Del Prado Apartments on August 7, 1982, which undoubtedly <br /> saved several lives and prevented serious injuries to the occupants of the burning <br /> building. <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> Mayor Robert Butler called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at <br /> 8:00 P.M., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmembers Brandes, Mercer, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Butler were present. Mro <br />~lker, City Manager, Mr. MacDonald, City Attorney, Mr. Warnick, Director of Public <br />Works and Utilities, Mr. Harris, Director of Planning and Community Development, and <br />Mr. Hill, Fire Chief, were present. <br /> <br />AGENDAAMENDMENTS <br /> Mr. Walker requested the following two items be added to the Consent Calendar: <br /> <br />item 4i - Chamber of Commerce Heritage Parade Permit Application <br /> <br />item 4j - Fire Services Agreement, Valley Business Park <br /> <br /> Mr. Walker advised that this meeting should be adjourned to an Adjourned Regular <br />Meeting on August 31, 1982, 7:30 P.M., Pleasanton Council Chambers. <br /> <br /> Mayor Butler stated he had received a request to consider items 13b, c, d, and e - <br />Growth Management Long Term Agreements for Doyle Heaton, Morrison Homes, Ponderosa <br />Homes, and Linwood, before the Public Hearings on the agenda. Council agreed to this <br />request. <br /> <br /> Mayor Butler stated he had received a request from the Housing Authority to con- <br />tinue item 13a - Ordinance Establishing Alternate Members on Commissions, because that <br />Board had not had sufficient time to review and report and make recommendations. <br />Council agreed to the continuance. <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, that <br />the following items listed on the Consent Calendar, as amended thereto, be approved: <br /> <br />a. Approval of City Council Minutes for August 10, 1982. Councilmember Mohr abstained <br /> from voting on this item due to her absence from the meeting. <br /> <br />b. Proclaim September 11-18, 1982, as Heritage Days in Pleasanton. <br /> <br />c. Adoption of Resolution No. 82-310, approving 1981-82 Alameda County Support Funds <br /> in the amount of $25,088.60, be applied to the resurfacing of various City streets. <br /> <br /> <br />
